We performed a comparison between RHEV and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, VMware VSphere got better user reviews. One major difference between the two solutions is that users say that RHEV’s scalability is not great.
"The initial setup is fairly straightforward and well-documented. The process is very similar to its competitors. The success of your setup depends on how well you plan."
"RHEV’s cost is much less compared to VMware."
"The most valuable features of RHEV are all the tools, such as virtualization, management of cloud platforms, and integration of container environments. The solution has good compatibility between virtualization, content management, and cloud management. Having the full set of these tools is the advantage of it."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the support portal."
"Technically, the main reason why I'm using Red Hat is because of its stability."
"The price is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's much cheaper than, for example, VMware."
"The solution has a good licensing module."
"There aren't any bugs on the solution."
"I have found the Storage vMotion feature to be the most valuable."
"It is easy to use."
"An important vSphere feature from a security perspective is VM encryption. As is the right thing to do in this day and age, security needs to be the number one concern for any IT operator. While there are security solutions which can be delivered at the physical, hardware layer, they don't necessarily address all of the requirements from an encryption perspective. Being able to have VM-centric, VM-level encryption is a great feature of vSphere."
"One of the most valuable features of this solution is the ease of deployment. It's also user-friendly and has been on the market for more than a decade, so it's a leading technology in hypervisor solutions."
"VMware vSphere is a very stable product."
"The redundancy, the failover, the ability to stay up and running 24/7, all the various tools that are in there, high-availability, DRS, are very critical to us."
"VMware vSphere has helped us create our infrastructures and provide services for our customers."
"It's very transparent and independent."
"The solution could use network virtualization."
"It lags behind in that you need to go to something like Fedora to get all the extra bells and whistles."
"A few features of the product do not work as well as those in VMware."
"We would like the dashboard feature of this solution to be improved, as it is not very detailed at present."
"We hope that Red Hat can produce a paradigm edition. We are looking for paradigm computing and paradigm storage. Its scalability can be improved. It is not easy to scale, and we hope that Red Hat can provide a more scalable system. They should also provide local service and support. Our customers are looking for a good software vendor to provide professional services."
"The solution has a very small lifecycle."
"The biggest improvement would be more third-party direct support for things like backups and provisioning through third-party portals."
"The support is tricky in a few places. We're facing some challenges within Malaysia where we don't really have the system integrators available who can provide extended support. When we need personnel on-site, we can't get them."
"The only improvement that is needed that come to mind are improvements in the vRealize Automation and vRealize Operations management simplicity."
"It needs to integrate better between multiple modules."
"Archiving, exporting, and backing up need to be improved for this solution, because they're slower than expected."
"In addition, I think they should come up with a backup feature which is more product enrichment-based. It should be a full-fledged backup solution. It just is not there right now."
"The solution’s pricing is too high and could be improved."
"The solution could benefit by expanding the CPUs and memory from different physical nodes."
"Here in Egypt, we would like everything free. So if you give us the license for free, we would be thrilled."
"They need to further develop graphics virtualization."
