We performed a comparison between RHEV and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, VMware VSphere got better user reviews. One major difference between the two solutions is that users say that RHEV’s scalability is not great.
"Red Hat is the most stable system."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"It is a scalable solution."
"The solution is overall very good with all the facilities. It is user friendly, easy to configure, has documentation, and support is available."
"The solution has a good licensing module."
"Technically, the main reason why I'm using Red Hat is because of its stability."
"This solution is very stable. Much more so than similar products."
"It's a scalable solution."
"The features in VMware vSphere data recovery are excellent. Sometimes I've deleted an entire server before and was able to recover the deleted VM. I just used some command line tools and I was able to restore the deleted VM."
"The provisioning setup of VMs is good."
"Very reliable with a great community."
"There are no issues with the level of scalability you can achieve."
"You see more responsiveness, especially now with having the HTML5 client. It feels like a much snappier product."
"The free ESXi hypervisor was a great way to get started, as it allowed us to introduce virtual machines so that users could start to experience the advantages."
"We can slide in new resources without any impact. We can do maintenance on our clusters without any impact to applications, and we have the flexibility of migrating those workloads to other data centers, when required, in the case of data center downtime."
"The UI is very intuitive, you don't have to spend hours before you figure it out. All in all, compared to other environments, like Hyper-V, we find vSphere a lot more user-friendly and intuitive to use."
"With RHEV, the cyberattacks should be fewer. I want RHEV to be better protected."
"A few features of the product do not work as well as those in VMware."
"The biggest improvement would be more third-party direct support for things like backups and provisioning through third-party portals."
"In comparison to VMware, this solution isn't as stable. We're testing it right now, and we're not trusting the stability of the product."
"Red Hat by itself is not scalable. But you can have third party add-ons like Ceph to make it massively scalable."
"We'd like it if it would be possible on Red Hat Virtualization to possibly connect two or three VMs to the same disk."
"Customers are not aware of this solution, they can improve by providing more awareness and solution availability."
"The UI should be more interactive with additional features."
"Its price should be better. Their support should also be more customer-friendly, and they should train people like us so that we know more about the latest technologies and features. If there is some program and drive from their side to teach us, it is definitely going to help us. Pricing and support are the most important features for mid-level companies. We are not implementing this solution for big tech companies."
"The solution is stable. It has some small bugs which are not influencing the main functions but every software has some bugs."
"I would like to see improvements in simplifying automation, cloud native deployment, administration, and fault resolution."
"It would be ideal if they could integrate billing software so that clients can customize it directly on the virtual machine."
"It could use a smaller learning curve."
"Without a lot of physical RAM on the hardware, it's not very effective. The stability could be improved in cases like this."
"NSX is a product of VMware vSphere and it would be nice to see the solution have full integration capabilities with it."
"It needs to integrate better between multiple modules."
