We performed a comparison between RHEV and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, VMware VSphere got better user reviews. One major difference between the two solutions is that users say that RHEV’s scalability is not great.
"The price is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's much cheaper than, for example, VMware."
"It is very stable."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the support portal."
"The most valuable features of RHEV are all the tools, such as virtualization, management of cloud platforms, and integration of container environments. The solution has good compatibility between virtualization, content management, and cloud management. Having the full set of these tools is the advantage of it."
"RHEV’s cost is much less compared to VMware."
"We find the ease of use of this solution to be invaluable. It is user-friendly and integrates well with other software."
"The solution is a great all-round product. The virtualization is especially good."
"It's a scalable solution."
"The latest innovation always comes from VMware."
"It gives us the ability to be running over 250+ VMs on five physical hosts and in various flavours of guest OSs."
"The GUI is very simple to use."
"I have found the Storage vMotion feature to be the most valuable."
"In terms of overall features, vSphere's stability stands out on top. Not only is it highly stable, but we're also able to have a quick backup server on standby."
"One of the most valuable features that vSphere has is its HA and DRS protection, where it can simply make sure that all the machines are always where they need to be and how they need to be taken care of. We have a lot of servers and services for emergency services for police, fire, and the like. We have the ability to use DRS as Anti-Affinity Rules to make sure that those redundant server pairs always stay away from each other. But then, if anything would happen to one of them, we have HA to be able to come up and bring it right up and going again."
"It's a very useful solution. It's easy to set up, and it's pretty stable."
"It makes managing your virtual servers easier and more centralized."
"This solution could be more secure."
"We hope that Red Hat can produce a paradigm edition. We are looking for paradigm computing and paradigm storage. Its scalability can be improved. It is not easy to scale, and we hope that Red Hat can provide a more scalable system. They should also provide local service and support. Our customers are looking for a good software vendor to provide professional services."
"Customers are not aware of this solution, they can improve by providing more awareness and solution availability."
"A few features of the product do not work as well as those in VMware."
"The UI should be more interactive with additional features."
"In comparison to VMware, this solution isn't as stable. We're testing it right now, and we're not trusting the stability of the product."
"The support is tricky in a few places. We're facing some challenges within Malaysia where we don't really have the system integrators available who can provide extended support. When we need personnel on-site, we can't get them."
"The Administration of the Oracle database and the SAP ERP needs improvement."
"Get the HTML5 client to 100% parity to replace the Flash client."
"As far as the web client goes, one of the frustrating things is that it's dependent on different browsers. One day it may work with only a given browser or there may be issues with Flash. So I look forward to being able to use the HTML 5 client."
"The cost can be better."
"Support for the product is not good enough."
"It would be useful to have features like micro-segmentation, changing the mix as well as part of vSphere"
"I can't speak to any missing features. It has everything I need."
"In the last couple of years, the breaking apart of specific added benefits and charging license upcharges for them. That would be the only negative thing that I have to say: As a large consumer of the Hypervisor, we have a hard time justifying the cost of utilizing the extra products, especially when it's a couple of grand here and there, a couple of hundred dollars here and there. It's hard for an IT administrator or an architect to sell to upper management. When they're seeing so much ROI from the Hypervisor, it's hard to show them that there is extra value in the additional products that can be tied on top."
"The pipeline feature can be improved, as it doesn't allow for specific situations."
