This product improved how my organization conducted repeatable analyses, such as a user access internal audit review for 500 users over 100,000 user ID and system access across 50-100 systems. My first project before we had QlikView took about a month, but after we rewrote the procedure using QlikView, it was much better and took about a week. We pretty much used the same raw data, but the report and analysis was so much quicker.

The process of gathering the data and using Microsoft Access used to take a month or so. Certainly, using QlikView as an ad-hoc tool is very powerful, yet easy. Comparing it to development on Microsoft Access, it feels about 10 times quicker. You go from raw data almost directly to reporting. (Skipping the hassle of lots of queries, forms, and slow report creation.)

As they say, "Seeing is Believing”.

We have gradually reduced laborious manual reporting in Business Units and "spreadmarts". We now have some executive using QV dashboards in weekly review meetings, in place of spreadsheets and PowerPoints. While it does take some time and IT involvement to initially develop and deploy a solution, the payback is immediate. In one particular case we were able to eliminate a days worth of manual work with a QlikView solution that required a few days of development effort. We also previously had no way for end users to routinely and easily analyze larger (100 Million+ rows) data sets, which now can be done through QlikView.

My experience using QlikView was in a F&B chain store with outlets around the world. In such a F&B chain store, there are a lot of dishes and they are changing frequently with a high transaction volume.

In such an environment, a search function is very helpful for us when we want to find out the sales performance and trend of a specific dish.

Qlik’s associative model greatly helped us identify customer purchase behavior and we can define combos according to this information.

Powerful, scalable, and a bit addictive, allowing you to "see" your data in ways never thought possible. We can now take medical stats presented in an academic journal and applying them to community-based medicine. This literally changes physician behavior like no other tool.

We were struggling with running application reports, and were spending substantial time, and high-end resources to deliver the basics. Implementing QlikView for our clients also allowed us to aggregate our client-based data and see "What type of reports are they running" "What time of day" "Which users". This data alone allowed us to immediately focus on the points of user experience which would impact the users the most.

Qlikview can be used both as an advanced reporting tool as well as an BI KPI tool, becoming the base for continuous process improvements. In general the benefits of the tool become clear at the early development stage when the user is challenged to input clearly his ideas, problems and needs and that will affect the process in which he participates. Typically in a second iteration the key user will ask for a new release more oriented to advanced KPIs rather than just reports. This is a direct consequence of the process making things clearer and evolving. So the main value supplied by Qlikview is to reduce uncertainty, make the participants question, discover, interact with each other, and eventually improve the process. Properly used should function as an improvement catalyst for the processes involved.

This accelerates business decision-making. It avoids the lengthy delays involved in requesting the information from IT or having to deal with the disconnect between technology and the business side, both from an objective point of view, but also from the customer view.

It also enables management and the end user to change the criteria of the reports and data without having to go back to IT with changes. In other words, dynamic reporting.

This in turn has in general decreased the “fear” of touching applications on computer. With backups maintained by IT, people are given more freedom to try and change applications themselves.

  • Formatted reporting (PDF and export to Excel) - if necessary compile aggregate export to PDF document was not allowed to draw and do parameterized output compile or schedule it as a job with an appropriate distribution to the responsible user group, custom printing to PDF or Excel did not correspond to reality/original

Director, Business Analytics at a recruiting/HR firm with 51-200 employees

I have implemented both QlikView and Qlik Sense solutions for our customers/organizations in multiple industries.

The immediate improvements allow organisations:

  • To analyse data more comprehensively (e.g. in the areas of risk management and customer profiling/segmentation) to provide greater insight / understanding
  • To make data available more quickly to facilitate decision making, especially for exceptional cases (e.g. when not meeting KPIs)

Other side benefits derived from implementing such projects are:

  • Data gaps: It can identify insufficient or unavailable data for making better decisions.
  • Process gaps: It can identify business processes that need to be improved, e.g. manual processes that need to be fine-tuned or automated.
  • System gaps: It can identify areas where the system needs to be improved e.g. improvement to existing system functions, or a new system needs to be put in place.

With such gaps and their relationship to the values of decisions, an organisation is able to prioritized resources to address those gaps over time.
