Being a software architect means being a business analyst and a software developer in one. Some days I'm focusing on product strategy, and other days I'm coding down in the guts of the system.

I used to work with C/C++, Assembly, Java, even TCL; nowadays I either use PHP, JavaScript and Erlang to craft scalable, high-performance web applications or manage other people doing the same.
