Security features meets compliance needs and offers MPGW (Multi-Protocol Gateway) that simplifies integration efforts
While I like IBM products, I'm not an evangelist. I work with Java, Microsoft ASP.NET, and various technologies. I'm not tied to any specific vendor. However, I do find IBM to be a bit greedy. It's a large, profit-driven company. The support team is mostly based in India, and they follow a very structured process and protocol. Sometimes, it feels like playing ping pong with them – lots of back and forth before the problem gets escalated. You might even have to get your sales rep involved to push things along. For me, the support it could be better. Indian support teams aren't inherently bad, but with IBM, it feels impersonal. They respond, sure. But if it's a complex technical issue, they might ask you a lot of questions that just seem designed to waste your time. Sometimes it feels like they hope you'll get frustrated and solve the problem yourself.

Stability and performance can improve, but highly scalable
I am using IIS in our organization to manage the flow of the Active Directory The solution can be deployed on-premise and on the cloud. The solution is highly reliable. The solution is slow and could have better performance. I used IIS within the last 12 months. I rate the stability of IIS a…

"Since it is a gateway, it provides a lot of security features."
"I like that it is very stable, and we never experience any downtime."
"Support for PCA and non-PCA services is valuable."
"It's high-speed and it can be remotely administered via an API."
"The solution is stable."
"It helps scan and mitigates our vulnerabilities using the best protocols to secure our environment."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten."
"The initial setup of IIS is easy. The process takes only five minutes."
"IIS is useful for the deployment of web applications...Its stability is good."
"The graphical user interface makes it easy for users to configure the sites."
"IIS has a very simple and user-friendly interface, which helps a lot in effective and efficient management."
"The product is stable."
"We use the solution for our customer's web applications."

Cons

"Its support services could be better."
"An area for improvement in IBM DataPower Gateway is its price point because it's a relatively expensive product. Sometimes, when the customer use case is just a very small subset of what's being offered in IBM DataPower Gateway, then the product can be expensive, making my company lose some of the opportunities because of the expensive pricing. A lower price point for IBM DataPower Gateway, even if that results in a less feature-rich version, would be appreciated. In terms of additional features that I'd like to see in the next release of IBM DataPower Gateway, nothing specific comes to mind because IBM constantly improves its standards and provides quarterly updates to the product, so it's quite fine."
"It is a costly product."
"We are always looking for more features wherein it could be easily integrated with cloud applications. We are looking for either a cloud solution or a cloud integration option."
"The product should be more adapted to the DevOps process."
"The components that they include in the product that are, in fact, a WTX, really need to be removed from the product because they tend to fail."
"The user interface or the application development perspective and customization of the tool could be a little better."
"One area that could be improved is the integration with Postgres and SQL databases. Currently, IBM DataPower Gateway only integrates with Oracle databases."
"Sometimes, we encounter difficult issues, and getting support from Microsoft to resolve those issues is not easy."
"This solution needs to be easier for cases where you want to have an IIS cluster."
"If Microsoft IIS could work well with AppOptics or things like PHP, Python, and other custom languages that run on the webserver, it would be ideal. I think there are cases where people need to use Apache instead of IIS when IIS doesn't work well with other web languages."
"Finding different settings can be difficult if you don't know where to look."
"It lacks a few performance improvement tools."
"The initial setup could be made easier."
"Sometimes if you are using IIS in large-scale scenarios, meaning that if you are deploying an application within IIS service and you are expecting a large number of users to use this application, you can sometimes find some problems, meaning that the service can shut down by itself unexpectedly if you don't configure your IIS with the correct configuration that can handle this number of users."
"There is an issue with the network. The tool's price is also high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product is a bit expensive as IBM products are costly assets. However, for enterprise customers it is a worthwhile investment."
"The solution is expensive in comparison to other products."
"The solution has a return on investment but is a little expensive."
"It's expensive when you compare it with others."
"The total cost of IBM DataPower Gateway would depend on the configuration, but in my experience, it can amount to 60,000 Euros per box, even for the virtual version. Usually, customers need high availability and a non-production environment, so the total price for IBM DataPower Gateway can be quite a lot. It can be 200,000 Euros or a similar figure."
"The appliance is a bit on the expensive side for the workloads that are not too high."
"The cost of this product varies from customer to customer and the relationship with IBM, including how many offerings from IBM are already being used."
"As far as I know, they have a perpetual license for this product. They are paying perpetual fees rather than an annual subscription or annual pricing."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee for the solution."
"We purchased a Microsoft Windows license and the license for IIS came in the package."
"I was using the trial version of IIS inside my virtual machines."
"The solution provides multiple licensing options."
"There is no license needed to use the solution."
"I think it's part of the Windows Server, so you won't have any other costs to add in order to use the IIS service."
"There is an annual license to use this solution and the price could be better."
"IIS's pricing is reasonable."
