A cloud solution for warehousing with a troubleshooting feature
The initial setup is straightforward. It's based on user requirements. We also conduct heat mapping using a couple of tools. The only requirement is to understand the technical or configuration aspects from the user's end and then configure it. Mist takes no more than 15 to 20 minutes for a particular deployment. You need to understand the end user's environment and have a concrete plan on whether it's a greenfield installation or an existing one, considering the density and height. Based on that, we need to develop a passive heat map. Then, you need to discuss with the user to understand exactly what needs to be configured and what they require in their environment. Based on that, you can proceed with the installation. Additionally, you can perform post-installation heat mapping to ensure it matches the earlier heat map. I rate the initial setup an eight out of ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy.

A powerful, lightweight time series database with a simple query language and easy setup
Influx has TICK Stack, which contains multiple services and multiple products that work together. InfluxDB is just a time series database, and it works really well. I haven't yet had the time to look into the new stack based on Influx 2.0, but currently, as a time series database, InfluxDB is working the way it is supposed to work. In terms of features that I would like to see or have, in the community version, some features are not available. I would like to have clustering and authentication in the community version. I would also like to have high availability features, such as replication, active-active, etc. If they can put an extra plugin or service on top of it, it would be something interesting. I am not sure if they have high availability to make it data center-aware for clustering. For example, I am not sure whether you can have it at different locations with big clusters that are location-aware. Even in their documentation or presentation, they talk too little about high availability and extended clusters with different locations. They might already have it in the newer versions. We have Influx 1.8 in our production in the stage and internal workloads environments. The other products in their ecosystem, such as Chronograf, can be improved. Chronograf is a dashboarding or visualization layer product, and that, for sure, can be improved.

An Open Source Fully Featured Data Centre Monitoring Tool
I started working with Nagios Core when RHEL 5 was there & since then it is still in functioning mode various types of hosts and services have been configured such as the IBM AIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows, Cisco Routers, WLCs, Switches & certain gateway level firewalls. (Fortigate, Juniper Netscreen, Checkpoint, Radware AppDirector Load Balancer) As my knowledge gains, I've started deploying additional plug-ins (as stated above) to have a productive monitoring environment. Please Note: Nagios Exchange is a great source of plug-ins for testing purposes. Nagios is still functional & doing well after many years despite having 500+ nodes & 2500+ services. Moving further, the Nagios HA pilot project is in progress to have a high availability & business continuity. In opposite to Nagios XI, Nagios Core needs to be configured through a shell console only. Though open-source GUI Content Management tools are available I'm good @ shell level only. Using NCPA, We monitor active & passive checks both. However, Active checks mostly work well in my architecture. The biggest difference between Nagios Core & XI is, everything comes pre-built with Nagios XI, while for Nagios Core, all add-ons need to be configured individually. So, Nagios Core Engineer/Administrator requires in-depth shell-based knowledge & a clear understanding of Nagios Structure for all kinds of troubleshooting.
