Offers multi-factor authentication (MFA), good customizations features, very flexible
PingFederate is very flexible. We can do many customizations, and it also provides an SDK to tailor it to our specific requirements. There are also numerous plugins available. I've worked with tools like ForgeRock and Okta, but I find PingFederate to be the most customizable. It provides basic SSO functionality, but we can easily extend it. For instance, if a client requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) beyond username and password, such as OTPs or knowledge-based answers, we can integrate those. Ultimately, we tailor the solution based on client needs. In fact, I've also worked in presales, demonstrating the capabilities of PingFederate through POCs (Proof of Concepts).

Flexible tool with fast configuration and very good scalability
It has very good scalability. We can easily include the tenants and do the networking in AWS or Azure, depending on where it has been deployed. Saviynt is better for medium size clients, and we have about 50,000 users. It can be implemented for 500,000 people or even 2000. However, the solution does not work very well as the number of users increases. We only require two people for deployment and maintenance. We have plans to increase our usage because when we want it to connect to the other SaaS applications, we will be able to connect to SaaS products better.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find the auto-discovery feature the most valuable. It helps us automate a lot of things using a single password across applications."
"The solution has a smooth and configurable user interface for single sign-on capabilities."
"It gets a mobility portal in place in conjunction with Office 365. It provides very good possibilities and it's much better than other technology that we have used before which was unstable and slower."
"I like the self-service feature. The 502 and UBP systems are also excellent. PingID's ability to authenticate with SSH, RDP, and Windows login is pretty handy. It covers the entire spectrum of use."
"The mobile biometric authentication option improved user experience. It's always about security because, with two-factor authentication, it's always a separate device verifying the actual user logging in."
"The solution is stable. We haven't experienced any bugs or glitches."
"It provides ease of connecting all our devices."
"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Some of the self-service capabilities are quite powerful."
"Saviynt is easy to configure and manage."
"The feature that we use the most is the global, third-party user management."
"It's a highly functional system and a very well rounded solution. The onboarding of applications is solid. Their user access reviews are very good. Their role-based model and their identity life cycle stuff are solid. It's a very well rounded, strong product."
"The product is flexible to use."
"One of the tool's advantages is its user-friendly interface, making it easier to manipulate from a GUI perspective. The graphical user interface for users and administrators is straightforward. While it may require more configuration initially, once set up, it becomes more accessible and easier to use."
"Saviynt provides built-in access recommendations, while SailPoint IdentityNow offers access recommendations through a separate AI integration that requires additional licensing. Saviynt functions as a unified platform for various business operations, consolidating user and access data from multiple sources into a single platform. This allows for leveraging the same user base and data across different business functions, including access governance, privileged access management, data access governance, and third-party access governance. In contrast, SailPoint is a decoupled tool, requiring separate integration for managing access and permissions, especially for unstructured data. Saviynt's approach is more integrated and streamlined, providing a unified platform for access recommendations and various business operations."
"We have found the implementation process to be very easy."

Cons

"PingFederate's UI could be streamlined. They have recently made several improvements, but it's still too complex. It's a common complaint. The configuration should be simplified because the learning curve is too steep."
"The product is not customizable."
"We have encountered instances where it is not easy to do authentication."
"Notifications and monitoring are two areas with shortcomings in the solution that need improvement."
"I think that the connection with like Microsoft Word, especially for Office 365, is a weak point that could be improved."
"The management console needs to be improved. PingID should revise it."
"They could use some bio-certification. It's just more user-friendly and more convenient than entering the one time passes. That would be an improvement."
"PingID should put a little more effort into making a pretty self-explanatory deck about their tech features and the services they offer."
"According to feedback I've received, some users prefer SailPoint over Saviynt in real complex environments. SailPoint has its provisioning platform. Complex integrations may pose challenges in scenarios like a large bank with thousands of users, making SailPoint a preferred choice for some."
"The custom application integration is a little complex, and this tool doesn't provide so many plugins or additional applications."
"UI and support could be improved. The frequent updates and version changes can be disruptive for large organizations. Not every month, a large organization can go with the changes. Saviynt needs to consider this carefully."
"The solution is hosted on AWS cloud, and there is some dependency that affects our bottom line."
"It should support more customizations. In SailPoint, we can do many customizations, but we are not able to do that in Saviynt. For workflows and other things, we can only use what is already in place. Saviynt has a lot of scope for improvement on the customization part."
"The configuration process at the beginning can be difficult, depending on the complexity of the company."
"The product lacks a broad user base which makes it difficult sometimes to find answers to questions about the product."
"The company needs to do more to establish standard practices within the product itself that are common in the industry."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"PingID's pricing is pretty competitive."
"PingID pricing is a ten out of ten because it's a little bit cheaper than other tools, such as Okta and ForgeRock, and supports multiple tools."
"Ping offers flexible pricing that's not standardized."
"The pricing is neither too expensive nor too cheap."
"The product is costly."
"The solution has a pay-as-you-go licensing model, and you can subscribe monthly or yearly."
"The pricing is comparable to Azure Entra ID. Kind of the same"
"If you need to make any changes then there are additional fees."
"Saviynt's pricing is acceptable and licensing costs are yearly."
"Saviynt has a competitive price."
"Saviynt's pricing is reasonable."
"If you are investing in securing your data and avoiding any non-compliance issues, then yes, it is certainly recommended. To put it plainly, if you're willing to pay fines and aren't concerned about the misuse of data, then there might not be a problem. However, if you intend to safeguard the data of your employees, vendors, and customers, it becomes crucial. In this context, managing data security requires preventive and detective measures, such as enforcing segregation of duties and regularly reviewing permissions. Throughout an individual's life cycle within an organization or customer life cycle, various access permissions are granted. Without taking action on these permissions, there is a risk of exposure later on. If individuals retain access after leaving the organization, it poses a serious security threat. Implementing solutions like Saviynt can address these challenges, ensuring continuous access review, generating reports, alerts, and identifying potential risks."
"The product is less expensive than one of the competitors."
