Enables consolidation of data across an organisation onto a single platform for enterprise data insights & analytics
SAP is facing tough competition in the data lake and big data analytics market from other established vendors, such as AWS, Databricks, and Microsoft Azure Data Lake, among others. According to Gartner peer review insights, most customers prefer SaaS-based platforms offered by these market leading vendors. Although SAP has its own data lake solution, SAP IQ, it lags behind market leaders in this domain. SAP is working to enhance the capabilities of SAP IQ to bridge the gap, but it still has a long way to go before it can compete effectively with other players. To stay relevant in the ever-evolving IT landscape, SAP needs to adopt an open environment and allow third-party applications, such as Azure Synapse Analytics, AWS Redshift, and Google Big Query, to connect natively with its flagship enterprise warehouse solution, SAP BW/4HANA. This move will help SAP become the market leader in enterprise warehouse solution. Many customers currently rely on third-party integration solutions to integrate data from various sources with SAP BW/4HANA. Enabling integration with third-party applications through cloud connectors and open-source APIs can enhance the capabilities of the solution and increase its appeal to customers.

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive product."
"This is an expensive solution and there are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"The price is high and currently only affordable for large organizations."
"It's a little expensive compared to Microsoft Azure."
"The cost of ownership is higher. It's resource-intensive, and naturally, that increases costs."
"The product is free if we have the ECC license."
"Price wise, this solution is on the higher side."
"The SAP HANA application still hasn't been leveraged to the fullest extent, but it's a five-year enterprise license."
"The price is reasonable. We use a pay per license model. Firstly, you need to buy a license. After that, you mainly pay the annual support fee of around 20% or 25%. I think their prices are quite reasonable."
"The pricing for this solution is very reasonable compared to other vendors."
"Start with license per 1TB. Starting from hundreds of TB there is unlimited licensing to be considered. Move historical data to HDFS/S3 which are significantly cheaper or even free."
"The pricing could improve, it is a little expensive."
"The price of Vertica is less expensive than some competitors, such as Teradata."
"The first TB is free and you can use all the Vertica features. After 1TB you have to pay for licensing. The product is worth it, but be aware of this condition, and plan. The compression ratio is explained in the documentation."
"The price could be cheaper and it is best to negotiate the price."
"From a cost perspective, the software is less than most of its competitors."
