Good multi-platform SQL compatibility, as well as performance and data integrity
We currently run Web server solutions (CMS, CRM business solutions). Our CMS solution is obviously very text-oriented, and our CRM Business Solution was built for a finance and asset management business, which is capable of handling millions of transactions. Performance, access control, data…

A user-friendly tool for visualization
With Tableau, the only downside stems from its prices, especially in the country where I reside, which is Sri Lanka. When my company reaches out to new customers with Tableau's new costs, we find ourselves at a disadvantage. The price is an area where improvements are required. I think Tableau plans to release some AI-integrated features in 2024 for one of our company's clients we had initially. My company plans to use the AI-integrated version of the solution when it is released. AI is one of the best things that I was hoping to have on Tableau. The only issue with the solution is with its prices at a regional level. Integration-wise, it is a good product. Tableau always provides support to users. Tableau should introduce some special pricing for its existing customers, and it should be possible for the partners and resellers to provide such special prices to customers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The deployment of our solution across a number of servers using Ingres .NET has meant that we can protect the database server behind a highly secure firewall and deploy the front end solutions on a normal web server."
"Data handling, visualizations, and aesthetics of it are the most valuable features."
"It is so easy to do a lot of things. There is a lot of flexibility and creativity in this product. In other products, you don't have this flexibility."
"The most important feature in Tableau is visual analytics."
"It gives us a new dimension to the way that we analyse our data."
"It's very easy to visualize data with this product. The visualization maps of and frames that we have been able to cross-reference has been excellent."
"Any feature I am looking for usually is part of the next upgrade within a few months. They have a very good dynamic evolution."
"I believe one of the most valuable features of the solution is trend analysis."
"A valuable feature of Tableau is that it is a useful tool for small setups. I shuffle between Tableau and MicroStrategy, so I use Tableau for personal purposes more than enterprise. I like the light version of Tableau for personal usage and doing some use cases on my own. When it comes to something small, I use Tableau for setups, rather than any other tool."

Cons

"The ability to reset the log file without stopping the DBMS would be helpful for us."
"They need a write-back; that is what is missing. If they get the write back to the database, they will be fully automated, but for the time being, they are not."
"The product needs to allow for better ways to drill down more effectively on the information at hand."
"They need to improve the bar chart position and width."
"I would like them to include the Italian language, as I can see there are other foreign language in the product."
"We need big servers to perform the operations that we are doing. They should probably relook at its architecture."
"The charts in Tableau are quite limited."
"Firstly, the high cost of Tableau licenses makes it inaccessible for many mid-scale clients. Secondly, the server requires at least 128GB of RAM, which can be impractical for some systems. We need a dedicated system to use Tableau."
"When compared to Power BI, it is less user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Tableau's licensing is pretty straightforward and simple."
"The pricing is $70 per month. You have to pay about $800 or something in that ballpark annually for one license."
"Its cost is quite high. A corporate license costs about 150-200K per year for all the users, but there was probably some discounted amount. This cost includes everything."
"It is a bit overpriced."
"The solution is expensive but it depends on the customer's needs which will determine the cost of the licensing."
"The product's price is relatively inexpensive and manageable for enterprise-level companies."
"The professional version of Tableau is quite expensive."
"Tableau's prices are relatively high for our market. I am from Serbia, so many companies in this market don't have the ability to pay for expensive software. My clients are quite satisfied with a lot of Tableau's qualities except for the prices."
