Easy to use while improving the efficiency and reliability of storage infrastructure
The solution could improve: Documentation and support: Improvements in documentation and support resources could enhance the user experience. Advanced configuration options: More advanced configuration options may be needed to cater to specific needs. Feature expansion: This could include: * Integration with containerization platforms for modern application development practices could be beneficial. * Enhanced monitoring and reporting capabilities to provide more insights into the performance and health of the storage environment. * Integration with cloud storage providers to enable hybrid cloud deployments and data tiering capabilities. * Support for automated data tiering to optimize storage utilization and performance based on usage patterns. * Advanced data protection features such as encryption at rest and in transit to ensure data security and compliance. * Integration with containerization platforms to support modern application development practices.

Offers very good data protection and provides effective system uptime availability
We are partners and integrators of HyperFlex and I am a company Deputy Operative Director of IT HyperFlex has benefited us because there are no additional storage requirements and it requires less effort from the server and services in general.  This solution offers very good data protection and…

Combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place
The best thing about the solution is that it combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place. Unlike the traditional three-tier setup, you don't need to buy separate devices for each part. This makes it much easier to control and manage everything in one go without switching between…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Active-active HA provides top performance and redundancy."
"Integration with virtualization platforms helped us to resolve many issues we were facing while using the physical storage."
"The solution is also quite flexible. As an example, other vSAN solutions that we looked at had more stringent requirements regarding mixed HDD/SSD storage which wouldn't have worked in our environment."
"Starwind made it easy to deploy fully redundant, highly available storage at a low cost."
"The support has been amazing and quick to reply."
"StarWind support has been great in helping resolve other issues not caused by their software."
"The product only requires two VMWare ESXi host servers versus three host servers for VMware's comparable solution."
"Starwind support is excellent. They are very fast and have very good knowledge of Starwind and Hyper-V Cluster software."
"I like Cisco Intersight."
"The software defines networking, storage, and processing."
"We used to have a single customer-facing data center, which was vulnerable to failure. This product has allowed us to create high availability between two private data centers."
"Performance-wise, everything is good. So far, we haven't had any issues. There has been no downtime at all."
"The technical support has been very good for this solution."
"Deduplication is a valuable feature available in Cisco HyperFlex."
"The solution is easy to use and to learn. It is well integrated with VMware."
"It is helpful as a backup solution."
"The most valuable feature of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is the relocating of resources."
"The solution is stable and everything is taken care of through the Huawei support center. They ensure everything is running smoothly. It's been very good."
"The pricing of the solution is excellent. It's one of the main reasons a customer chooses Huawei. It's much, much better than VMware."
"The best thing about the solution is that it combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place. Unlike the traditional three-tier setup, you don't need to buy separate devices for each part. This makes it much easier to control and manage everything in one go without switching between different places for different tasks."
"The product is very reliable. We haven't had any major issues with the product since we bought it."

Cons

"The documentation could be clearer in terms of explaining the installation."
"They need to invest more in the support documents for real issues happening when integrating the solution with the hypervisor."
"I think the setup could be streamlined a bit."
"It would be nice to add the ability to use raw partitions instead of file containers."
"I would definitely like to see quite a bit more on the monitoring side of things."
"It would be great to have more automated tooling around managing the iSCSI connections in Windows"
"The documentation could be better."
"This product would benefit from having automated alerting functionality."
"Cisco has to continue improve the management tools to provide a better command line interface with more functions. That would be better for administration."
"Stability is really poor, especially the storage stability. We lost data. There were disruptions of clusters and that's one big pain point of the solution. It's not stable enough, the documentation is not good, there's not much documentation available. For every call we need a tech engineer."
"Cisco is a bit more challenging in terms of deployment. The admin must be knowledgeable in order to complete the task. Without that knowledge, it will be difficult to complete."
"In the next release, Cisco should add more integration and management capabilities as well as some tweaks to the dashboard that make it more user-friendly. They could also add support for multiple hypervisors."
"I would like to see more analytics. It could use better infographs in the HyperFlex Connect on how traffic is running in the network. If you were reaching any capacity issues on the Fabric Interconnects, it should be able to cool all of the servers and Fabric Interconnects, then possibly integrate it with, e.g., Nexus Series switches. This should all be available in a single pane of glass."
"Cisco should combine its features with its prices."
"I would like a lighter product; something which can be carried by a mere human. The typical size still looks like a stack of data center-sized servers, which is typically fine, but not so good if you want to carry it around."
"One of the biggest problems with HyperFlex HX is that if you want to adjust your solution in terms of processing power, memory, or disk capacity, you have to buy completely new hosts. From a financial perspective, it can be very expensive to do so, and from a legal perspective, there are all kinds of compliance issues we would have to sort out before buying any new solution or application."
"t would be helpful if the solution was able to collaborate or integrate with other well-known monitoring tools. Right now, you have to work hard to get it configured. It would be a good selling point for them if they could open up their solution to more integrations."
"Technical support needs improvement. There's a lot of language barriers."
"Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure could improve the security of the solution. However, we are comfortable using it. Additionally, there could be more information provided for the solution and the interface could be more user-friendly."
"I want the product to be used more efficiently and for our system to connect easily with cloud services like AWS, Oracle, and IBM. We can also improve by adding advanced features like snapshots, replication, and encryption, allowing for more growth. Introducing features such as data duplication, data analytics, and AI-driven insights will improve its deployments."
"The solution currently does not have cloud integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost, including OPEX, is lower compared to other solutions."
"The setup cost, pricing, and licensing are very straightforward. They are exactly what you expect."
"The free version is great to use for labs or test environments."
"If you are looking at a traditional SAN for a small cluster, give StarWind vSAN because you will save thousands without any compromise."
"The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
"The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
"We found that the pricing was perfect; simple and clear."
"The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
"It's much more expensive than rack servers. It was an issue, but when you compare it to the number of people who were administrative assistants before, it's on the positive ROI side. It's much cheaper."
"The product could be cheaper."
"Our licensing is Hybrid. We have all of our applications for billing and outage management through this."
"Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series is expensive. It's a standard license, and we pay for it yearly. I think we pay about 700."
"We negotiated with Cisco and we got some price benefit from that."
"There is no additional licensing cost other than the cost for each part."
"Cisco is quite expensive, but not in the initial first buy."
"Pricing is better if you buy more Cisco products."
"The price of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is very good. There is a perpetual license for the solution, there are not any additional costs for the hardware. We have a license in case there is any new functionality that is required."
"I rate Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure's pricing a six out of ten."
