Integration capabilities are good, and handles connectivity between applications and databases
Network Deployment is the most useful feature for scalability. It has many features within the standard WebSphere Application Server edition. WebSphere's security meets our application's needs. For security, we can integrate WebSphere with LDAP. Additionally, we can configure SSO certificates or third-party certificates for secure communication between our application and even the database. We can use SSL certificates to secure both frontend and backend connections. Combined with LDAP and SSL certificates, the security features are excellent. Integration capabilities are good. That's a key strength of WebSphere. It integrates easily with various other software vendors, which is why many companies use it.

Drastically reduces workload in super structure environments with multiple vendors
I am using the solution to study and have not yet used it on a production level. I integrate components such as other Oracle products and the public cloud. I also use the solution on the virtual side to try different approaches. I use the on-premises version but my company also has the public cloud…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Without the Admin Console it would be very hard to configure JVM settings, JDBC datasources, mail session settings, and security providers."
"The solution has good performance."
"IBM WebSphere Application Server is one of the best servers due to its stability and paid license."
"Security: It is compatible with the latest Java 8 security features, supports FIPS 140-2 and NIST SP 800-53 with strong ciphers and cryptography keys, and supports TLS 1.2 completely. Also, configuring client and server certificates is relatively easy."
"The thing about WebSphere, as opposed to other ones that I am aware of such as JBoss and Liberty, is that WebSphere has the most comprehensive scaffolding available to it."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is Portal Virtualization."
"As compared to other applications, it has tremendous support. We have built internal capability so that we use it extensively internally. It is also easier to use with the outside data. You can write in ESQL, Java, or any other technology that you want to use for development. So, it is a lot more flexible in the language that it supports."
"Network Deployment is the most useful feature for scalability. It has many features within the standard WebSphere Application Server edition."
"Oracle Fusion is stable."
"The solution is quite good for applying patches or performing upgrades."
"The most valuable features are Oracle Unified Directory and unified identity access management."
"The initial setup is easy. There are many self-tutorial videos are on the Internet, and then the Oracle documents are self-explanatory."
"The solution is extendable so you can start with two cores and add more at any time."
"Fusion Middleware's main feature for me is that it is quite flexible, and, as middleware, it provides us with all sorts of technology and application adapters, which makes it very handy to use."
"Oracle Service Bus is the most valuable feature of the solution."
"The most valuable feature is the structure of the product. We use Oracle Fusion Middleware to manage the Oracle database. Registered users can go to each product if sign-on credentials match each user's identical framework."

Cons

"The main issue we faced was its limited compatibility with non-Java technologies, which can result in difficulty detecting potential bugs and requiring additional integration efforts."
"WebSphere Application Server doesn't have an automated deployment option, forcing us to use third-party tools like Jenkins UCD and Palo Automated Deployment."
"Based on the field and based on the build that was provided, we've noticed a lot of constraints in terms of the performance now."
"The licensing could be improved, and I would like it to give the longevity of the lifespan of the visions. In the next release, I would like to be able to download and extract the files so that I can just use my application server."
"The installation has room for improvement."
"IBM needs to pay attention to market changes more quickly. We now have Java 9 and very soon Java EE8. We do not want to wait for two or three years after their release until they are supported by the new version."
"It should be able to serve more concurrent requests like Oracle. Oracle has more powerful stability, availability, and real-time serving."
"When compared with WebLogic, Weblogic is lighter and consumes less memory."
"Its price can be improved. We are currently looking for more cost-efficiency. It should also have a little bit more flexibility for customizations. The customizations should be quicker."
"All areas of HCM modules could use some improvement."
"Oracle Fusion Middleware could improve by offering enhanced and customizable business-related features, particularly in supporting individual businesses or custom applications."
"One thing that I would like to see is if this product can be containerized. We are moving away from virtual servers and moving more towards containerization to be able to quickly set up environments or have the flexibility of scaling them. It would be good if it can be containerized, and it works well in containerized platforms."
"Oracle Fusion Middleware is based on the regulations in Saudi Arabia and the legislation changes. There is a need to be improvements all the time. It needs to adapt quickly in this market. Additionally, there could be some improvements in the construction sector."
"The product should improve BPEL features."
"The main improvement must be made on the user interface. You need to use another Oracle cross in this product. It must be improved and some features of the connectors must be changed."
"The documentation might not be good enough for new users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"WebSphere Application Server is expensive, so it may not be a good option for small companies."
"We pay around $200,000 annually."
"The licensing policy is based on the PVU base."
"Room for improvement would only be in the licensing. As with all IBM products the licensing can be complex and expensive. Bargain well and try to get as much discount as possible. Discounts of 85% are possible. Without the discount, I think the product is overrated."
"It costs more than some of the others, but, you get what you pay for."
"The pricing is a little expensive."
"It's expensive."
"The price of this product is higher than that of competitors."
"We pay annually for the solution."
"The pricing is moderate. It's fine."
"The solution is expensive so pricing is rated a six out of ten."
"The solution is quite expensive so is only used by larger organizations."
"It is expensive. We are looking for a cheaper solution."
"My advice is to buy the basic modules first, gain the most benefit from them, then buy the advanced modules."
"The licensing costs are reasonable."
