A stable and easy-to-install solution that runs in the background without disturbing the user
The lack of need for the patch for an extra password is a shortcoming. It will be a great improvement if the patch requires an extra password so that they can find out how to synchronize your Windows password with the same password for Sophos SafeGuard. I would like to suggest some features that should be included in the next release of Sophos SafeGuard. It is a simple product that accomplishes its basic requirements, which is fine. I don't think implementing complicated solutions that may introduce other issues is necessary. Let it focus on doing what it's meant to do, which is to protect data, and that's all.

How We Chose SED + WinMagic's SecureDoc For Full Disk Encryption
What if your organization’s leadership directed you to deploy an enterprise encryption solution in 120 days?  Could you do it? I received that message in May 2011 and our basic business goals were full disk encryption (FDE), low laptop performance impact, and low administrative overhead (easy to…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The user experience and the quality of the features are good."
"The solution has a great VPN."
"It's easy to use. You have to pay extra for additional, but the basic product is fantastic. It will be a good solution for you, depending on your requirements."
"The intrusion detection system."
"I like the support most of all."
"With Sophos, I only need to generate the password and give that to a user to be able to allow them to login to the admin page of the Endpoint and do whatever they need to do. The user cannot go ahead and uninstall it. It's kept us much more secure because of this. Should any event happen on a particular system, I'm given the username and the system IP address. I get notifications and can deal with issues right away."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the GUI is easy to use."
"I like that Sophos SafeGuard provides excellent technical support."
"The Central Management server."

Cons

"The solution's ability to integrate with other solutions, such as a DLP, should be addressed."
"Sophos SafeGuard cannot block or quarantine such viruses. Quarantine is a feature with shortcomings that needs improvement."
"As a tool, Sophos SafeGuard is not optimized."
"Having a DLP integrated with the encryption engine would be very good."
"In the next release, I would like to see more automation with the endpoint logging, but it's a special feature that is quite complicated to explain."
"Technical support could be a bit better."
"You have to pay extra for some additional features, like data extraction. It would be nice if everything was available in one bundle."
"The integration could be a little better."
"MacOS X is missing features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licenses are dependant on the number of users and computers you have to protect."
"The licensing costs depend on the series. For example, XG 85 can be around $200. If you go to ACC or to a four or five-year enterprise solution, you will find these devices can cost $10,000. It depends on the series."
"Pricing for Sophos SafeGuard should be transparent. If you want to get support for Sophos SafeGuard, you don't get pricing information about support costs, and in the end, you'll get charged more."
"I rate Sophos SafeGuard's pricing a five out of ten."
"We used it for three years. It costs about 1000 ZAR. Maintenance was part of it, so we don't have extra cost. On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution's pricing a three."
"The pricing is good and now they offer three year and five year plans. After that if one lokes the service they can choose the lifetime service."
"Regarding pricing, it's a middle-priced solution. We typically use Sophos SafeGuard with the Sophos firewall, which includes VPN connections. The cost depends on the number of users, with some customers requiring hundreds of connections and others needing around a thousand."
"It's a software license with a one-time purchase. There are no issues with purchasing, and the vendor is flexible with licensing."
"Licensing and pricing is on par with the market."

The pricing is reasonable. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being cheap and ten being expensive.
What needs improvement with Sophos SafeGuard?
SD-WAN and AI are the kinds of things we're interested in, but for now, it's just planning for the future. AI is advancing rapidly, and I wasn't even aware there was any AI involved in Sophos. Almo...
