We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution scales well.""Asana allows you to create your own project with sub sections with subtasks that can be assigned. The feature I really love is that you can tag people to notify them that there has been progress on a project as well as add attachments.""The initial setup is straightforward. It was just a few clicks to get started and to integrate Asana into our existing business system. It took 15 days to fully implement our projects using Asana.""Asana has significantly reduced the number of emails we exchange because we can access the project directly. It organizes all the tasks related to each project, assigns them to staff with due dates, and tracks progress.""Asana has a wonderful user experience that is very easy to interact with and has tons of integrations with other products and tools.""Asana's most valuable aspect is its ability to consolidate all tasks and projects onto a single board, allowing for seamless navigation through timelines from start to finish. Additionally, it enables the inclusion of key stakeholders and provides a private communication channel for discreet discussions. The organizational component of Asana is particularly beneficial, including its coding features.""The tool has a lot of integrations.""What I like the most about Asana is its API integrations because we use a lot of cluttered toolsets in our company since we need to cater to different clients, for which its integration gives us a lot of flexibility."

"It seems highly scalable. There are 500 end users using this solution.""The most valuable feature of Atlassian Confluence is the ability to access your files from anywhere.""For me, the most valuable feature is its high performance. It's crucial for us in the bank, as we handle a massive number of transactions every day.""I like the documentation. It's a central platform, and there are many things that I can do with it. I'm very pleased about it.""We have found limiting permissions and history very valuable.""Collaboration is most valuable. You can upload or create your documents on Confluence and share them with your team members. Your team members also can share documents.""The trial stages, the ability to connect it to Jira, and the ability to export in PDF are all good capabilities.""It is a good collaboration tool."

Cons
"The inbox feature can be a little overwhelming if you are working with Asana just from its project boards and only checking it periodically.""If you have been using a tool like Jira for many years, it make time some time to get used to the minimalist layout in Asana.""The calendar view in Asana has shortcomings and can be improved.""The documentation could be enhanced by incorporating more visually informative videos that demonstrate how to accomplish specific tasks. While Asana's community support is valuable for answering questions, finding precise answers often requires sifting through multiple posts. Having concise and explanatory videos would greatly improve the user experience. When searching on platforms like Google, there are many individuals sharing their approaches to using Asana. However, the information provided is often not directly applicable to one's specific needs. Therefore, it would be advantageous to have comprehensive video tutorials that address common user queries. This would provide a more efficient and intuitive way of accessing information, especially when it comes to learning how to navigate and utilize Asana's features effectively.""This solution has a learning curve, where it is initially difficult to use.""Currently, there are only a few available options, but it would be helpful to have more control over the notifications received.""Auto-shift is an essential feature for planning, but it's currently not there. It should have this feature so that when you move a task that depends on another task, the dates should be auto-shifted. For example, you have two tasks dependent on each other. When the parent task is moved or delayed, the child task should also be delayed, and the date should be shifted. When we have a very long timeline, it's very complex to go task by task and shift the dates on the task. Auto-shift is a fantastic and basic feature of project management, and having such a feature in Asana would make our lives much easier. If Asana added this feature, it would complete the suit and close the project management cycle because currently, there is a gap.""More features can be added."

More Asana Cons →

"Atlassian Confluence's old versions consume too much memory, making it an area where optimization is required from an improvement perspective.""This is kind of by design, however, the lack of control in terms of editing the page to make it look the way you want it to look is an issue. It would be nice if there was more flexibility there.""The way Atlassian Confluence handles tickets could be improved.""Some aspects of the drawing perspective could be improved. When we upgrade a design and make technical architecture drawings to publish, we still use Visio first and then copy and paste it. If this feature were available on Confluence, it would be a useful tool.""I would like to see more macros provided by the company included in the license.""When you are creating a table in Confluence, there is no tool to export it into Excel sheet for quick references. We can only export it as an a PDF file, but not into an editable file.""The price could be improved. I have heard that certain adjustments would be made in 2024 and that it will then be more expensive, but I don't know the specifics.""I would like to see integration with Slack."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price of this solution makes it quite accessible, and the plans fit my budget."
  • "Asana has two different types of structures: company vs workspace. Company is really best if all the users you plan to assign work to are all internal (have the same corporate domain in their user ID email address). Once one person signs up (even for a free account) with a corporate email address, Asana will automatically relate that person to that company, if it already exists. If you plan to use it for external collaboration as well as internal, then creating a workspace is a better approach."
  • "It has a free version."
  • "There is a free version of Asana, but we use the paid version to receive all the features we want. The overall price is reasonable."
  • "Its price is fair. Its licensing cost is cheaper than Microsoft Project. I would rate it a two out of five in terms of pricing."
  • "For what it brings to the table, I think Asana is fairly affordable. I would like to see the portfolio feature in our pricing plan, but other than that, it's definitely pretty good."
  • "We're on the business tier, which is $25 a month if you're on an annual contract. It's $31 if you're on a month-to-month contract. In my experience, there are no hidden costs with Asana. I know Smartsheet has these add-ons that you can buy, which is an additional cost, but Asana doesn't have any add-ons that I know of. When you're trying to scale the product and want to add users, you have to do it in buckets of five. This is also something to consider."
  • "This solution is reasonably priced."

  • "For us, it's free to use. We don't pay any licensing."
  • "When you purchase this solution you get some support."
  • "The issues I have with the pricing are in respect to the add-ons."
  • "The price of the on-premises data center version is too expensive."
  • "Licenses are quite expensive"
  • "There is an annual license."
  • "Pricing wise, it ends up being an expensive solution. In the beginning it's cheap, but by the time you have all the functions you need, it turns out to be expensive."
  • "We have a site license for Atlassian Confluence and there are some limitations on external users."

    Overview

Asana is web-based software-as-a-service that helps teams coordinate and manage their work. It helps companies move faster by making sure everyone knows the team’s plan and process and who is doing what by when.

Each user can create projects using a list, board, calendar, or timeline view. Within each project, users can add tasks, subtasks, sections, comments, attachments, start and due dates, and custom fields. Project and task followers get notifications on changes or comments on the project and/or task in their Inbox. Individual users can see all of the tasks they're responsible for across all of their projects in a view called My Tasks.

Asana is available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.
