Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Instead of taking two people a week each month to perform our internal KPI reporting, the same two people can have it done in a day.""The dynamic selections on the screen and details by function are also valuable for inside the data view.""The aesthetics of it are really nice. That is what attracted us to BOARD: the ease and functionality of it.""It is very easy to use. It has got what they call a toolkit, which is a no-code development environment. You can develop a whole solution with it because it is a complete platform. There is a lot of online material that can be used as a reference. You can help yourself while developing a solution. There are some prebuilt applications in the platform environment. You can very easily customize and integrate these applications. It also has flexible scaling of machine resources, which is really great.""By using Board we can do a lot of free analysis. We can change the layout of a table and even the end-user can change the layout of a table. And in Board 11.2 you can save the layout. That's very useful for the customer, it's a very good function.""A lot of flexibility from the data modeling standpoint. It can add specific line items into our budget, for example, or if we want to make changes to the data model itself, we have that flexibility.""It is easy to make quick updates. As the business changes, we can maintain the tool without programming help from IT.""The most valuable features are the reporting and the charts. The reporting functionality is handy for aggregation, when it comes to planning. That ability is fascinating and our users are very happy with it. The charts and the reporting allow our users to see all the data and to see how things are going this year or in the COVID situation. They're seeing everything. Instead of having to check data line by line, they're seeing it in a graph and they're seeing it in charts."

"It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete.""We can integrate with any system and pull data from SAP or SQL Server. We can also design our own role files to establish how we pull the file data and store it in our database.""The stability is fine and quite user friendly.""We can collect data from various sources, which is very useful for budgeting and planning.""Scalability is one of this solution's big plus points.""We have found there is excellent stability with Oracle Hyperion.""The latest cloud version is more efficient for financial implementations.""Oracle Hyperion is fairly user-friendly and not too complicated. The forecasting, it's really good. It's sometimes slow when there are a lot of users using it and we can have up to approximately 300 users using it. However, you can do it in Excel because there's an Excel add-in. This is a benefit because a lot of people do this way instead of having to go into the planning application itself."

Cons
"We can't delete entities and cubes in Boards because it interrupts our whole data model.""It's very powerful, but there is also a big learning curve. It should be a little more intuitive.""It would be huge in the future if BOARD offered a lot more graphs and presentations, and it was a lot easier to use.""What could be better is the manual... nowadays, most people use a web client, but on the Board manual website, a lot of the information is only about the Windows client. If they could update that, it would be helpful.""I'd like to see a more passive report user for enterprise report writers that aren't particularly technical.""The setup was a bit complex.""We have had some challenges with newer version of the rollout in terms of stability.""It would be nice to have more connectors for other data sources. BOARD is a great tool to become the single source of the truth. Making it easier to connect data sources for niche software tools will make it easier to keep everything in one place."

More Board Cons →

"From a technical perspective, the technical support could be improved and the price could be reduced.""The analytics could be improved.""Hyperion has much room for improvement, especially disaster recovery. You don't have the option to choose the proper disaster recovery method. We have Hyperion and an SQL server on the backend. We have active solutions for the backend database server, which aren't working for our people. They've asked us to remove the high availability to increase application performance.""The level of complexity of the implementation is always a challenge.""We are still having some issues with the ASO Cube. It can take a long time to clear the data in the ASO Cube compared to BSO data-clearing operations. We don't have a specific calculation in the ASO, and we only have these aggregate options on the ASO side. If we need calculations, we have to calculate them in the BSO and pass the data to the ASO Cube for the reporting. That's one of the drawbacks. Oracle could also improve on the data logging side as well.""I would like to see more integrations with third-party vendors such as BigSense and SAP. I'm looking forward to seeing more interface-related content.""I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget.""What I like is to have everything on one platform and not in different modules like Oracle Hyperion."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Find a partner who will take responsibility for the implementation, and be available for support."
  • "In terms of the pricing, it was reasonable. BOARD is not the lowest in the market, but it was reasonable for us."
  • "It is not the cheapest product on earth, but you get so much. It provides good value for money."
  • "The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."
  • More Board Pricing and Cost Advice →
