We performed a comparison between Databricks and Tableau based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Science Platforms solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The time travel feature is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"I haven't heard about any major stability issues. At this time I feel like it's stable."
"It's great technology."
"Databricks has improved my organization by allowing us to transform data from sources to a different format and feed that to the analytics, business intelligence, and reporting teams. This tool makes it easy to do those kinds of things."
"The fast data loading process and data storage capabilities are great."
"The solution's features are fantastic and include interactive clusters that perform at top speed when compared to other solutions."
"It's easy to increase performance as required."
"Databricks allows me to automate the creation of a cluster, optimized for machine learning and construct AI machine learning models for the client."
"It's the ease of use. It is also a self-service tool so it decreases the burden on having centralized IT-type teams or developers."
"It's very easy to use and users don't need any IT support to access it as the information is right there."
"Its dashboarding is the most valuable. It is easy to create visualizations and dashboards and import Excel sheets and ESP files in Tableau as compared to other tools."
"The number one thing was just the ease of getting something up quickly. The other thing that was good about it was that it was fairly fast for decent-sized data sets in terms of performance and run time."
"It provides supporting data for critical policy and operational changes"
"Tableau is easy to use and it has great predictive features."
"You can create attractive dashboards that inform users using Tableau."
"Since Tableau is on the cloud, we haven't faced any challenges around scalability."
"The stability of the clusters or the instances of Databricks would be better if it was a much more stable environment. We've had issues with crashes."
"I have had some issues with some of the Spark clusters running on Databricks, where the Spark runtime and clusters go up and down, which is an area for improvement."
"I would like it if Databricks made it easier to set up a project."
"Support for Microsoft technology and the compatibility with the .NET framework is somewhat missing."
"I have seen better user interfaces, so that is something that can be improved."
"I believe that this product could be improved by becoming more user-friendly."
"The product cannot be integrated with a popular coding IDE."
"The Databricks cluster can be improved."
"The product's features for cloud integration need improvement."
"Its price is a concern. It is more expensive than Power BI. The other thing that I never liked about Tableau is its ability to handle large sets of data. To present the data in the dashboards, we have to stage it up exactly like it is going to come into the dashboard. We use another tool called Alteryx that does that for us. So, we manipulate the data, get it staged, and then push it into Tableau. Tableau is terrible at handling large data sets, and we knew right away that we couldn't use Tableau to do data manipulation."
"There should be stronger data modules for the platform."
"The data preparation could integrate better with Tableau."
"With Tableau, when you're dealing with very large datasets, it can be slow so the performance is an area that can be improved."
"The ability to use it on MAC machines. As far as I know, this is not possible."
"We have products like Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, and QlikView in the data visualization segment. Compared to those, Tableau is quite costly."
"If they could add global filters in the stories, more chart types, and default colours, it would help."
