Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The best feature of Dell EMC NetWorker is its wide spectrum of available plugins for each and every software that you can back up, such as SAP HANA, Oracle, AXI-based machines, or Dell-based machines. Whatever you want to back up, you can do it with Dell EMC NetWorker. It is a very solid backup software. It is the oldest backup software from EMC, and it comes from Dell EMC's legacy."
"The updated graphical interface is better than it used to be."
"The software’s best feature is data backup for any system."
"The solution has minimized the recovery time objective, and the recovery point objective, the RTO and RPO. Most customers are looking for to minimize downtime. The solution has helped ensure this."

"Compared to a homemade installation, this appliance is very stable."
"The policy-based backup feature is very helpful."
"It’s quite scalable."
"The tool is easy to use, stable, and performs well, but it depends on the environment where it is deployed. It is leaning more toward huge enterprises where it is positioned. It needs to be as easy as others but addresses more complex requirements."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance's most valuable feature is information backup."
"The initial setup gets easier the more you do it."
"The interface could have a different appearance."
"It's not easy to integrate. We have to read a lot of documentation in order to configure the solution."
"We are able to do direct backups, but analyzing the logs is not straightforward."
"The licensing rules are difficult to navigate and understand."
"The solution could improve by having more integration."
"It is not easy to understand and deploy. It is complex in nature. Simplicity is not there. When we deploy it, the customer always needs some training from us. To make it user friendly, there should be one agent that can be used to back up every product. Dell EMC NetWorker uses so many user agents. In PowerProtect Data Manager, you can just install its VM, import that VM into vCenter, and you can start to do backups directly from vCenter. However, in Dell EMC NetWorker, you always need one server, and from that server, you need to initiate all backups. You must know the interface and the CLI. It is not user friendly. It would be a great feature if we can deploy Dell EMC NetWorker on a virtual machine, like Avamar. The additional features that are required in Dell EMC NetWorker are already available in PowerProtect Data Manager and Avamar. Therefore, there is no need to enhance Dell EMC NetWorker. It would be better if they can just rename it to PowerProtect Data Manager or Avamar."
"It could be more user-friendly."
"NetWorker's major problem is its legacy software."
"The solution could improve by providing more integration and security."
"The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic."
"It's an expensive solution."
"The product must improve its recovery features."
"NetBackup Appliance's pricing is reasonable, but it could be lower."
"More licensing options could be introduced to the software. It is currently based on capacity only. Compared to competitors, it is difficult to position it economically everywhere. From the usability point of view, they are making many improvements on new interfaces, the SaaS offering, etc."
"The desirability of appliance solutions is dwindling in the marketplace."
"Veritas NetBackup would benefit from better explained error codes."
