We performed a comparison between IBM SPSS Statistics and KNIME based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Mining solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The software offers consistency across multiple research projects helping us with predictive analytics capabilities."
"Custom tables and macros: They allow us to create useful reports quickly for a broad audience."
"Most of the product features are good but I particularly like the linear regression analysis."
"You can quickly build models because it does the work for you."
"Since we are using the software as a statistical tool, I would say the best aspects of it are the regression and segmentation capabilities. That said, I've used it for all sorts of things."
"It has helped our analyst unit deliver work with more transparency and confidence, given that we can always view the dataset in totality, after each step of data transformation."
"The most valuable feature is the user interface because you don't need to write code."
"in terms of the simplicity, I think the SPSS basic can handle it."
"The product is very easy to understand even for non-analytical stakeholders. Sometimes we provide them with KNIME workflows and teach them how to run it on their own machine."
"Usability, and organising workflows in very neat manner. Controlling workflow through variables is something amazing."
"It's a coding-less opportunity to use AI. This is the major value for me."
"KNIME is easy to learn."
"Automation is most valuable. It allows me to automatically download information from different sources, and once I create a workflow, I can apply it anytime I want. So, there is efficiency at the same time."
"From a user-friendliness perspective, it's a great tool."
"I've never had any problems with stability."
"One of the greatest advantages of KNIME is that it can be used by those without any coding experience. those with no coding background can use it."
"Perhaps in terms of visualization. It's not really easy to do some data visualization, just simple, descriptive analysis in SPSS. I think that could be an area for improvement."
"If there is any self-generation data collection plan (DCP), it would be helpful in gathering data. It would also be useful if there is a function to scale it up to, let's say, UiPath and have it consolidate and integrate into a UiPath solution."
"The statistics should be more self-explanatory with detailed automated reports."
"One of the areas that should be similar to Minitabs is the use of blogs. The Minitabs blog helps users understand the tools and gives lots of practical examples. Following the SPSS manual is cumbersome. It's a good, exhaustive manual, but it's not practical to use. With Minitabs, you can go to the blogs and find specific articles written about various components and it's very helpful. Without blogs, we find SPSS more complicated."
"It would be helpful if there was better documentation on how to properly use the solution. A beginner's guide on how to use the various programming functions within the product would be so useful to a lot of people. I found that everything was very confusing at first. Having clear documentation would help alleviate that."
"The reports could be better."
"I know that SPSS is a statistical tool but it should also include a little bit of analytical behavior. You can call it augmented analysis or predictive analysis. The bottom line is it should have more graphical and analytical capabilities."
"There is a learning curve; it's not very steep, but there is one."
"KNIME needs to provide more documentation and training materials, including webinars or online seminars."
"In the last update, KNIME started hiding a lot of the nodes. It doesn't mean hiding, but you need to know what you're looking for. Before that, you had just a tree that you could click, and you could get an overview of what kind of nodes do I have. Right now, it's like you need to know which node you need, and then you can start typing, but it's actually more difficult to find them."
"One thing to consider is that the prebuilt nodes may not always be a perfect fit for your specific needs, although most of the time, they work quite well."
"There are some parameters that I would like to have at a bigger scale. The upper limit of one node that tries to find spots or areas in photos was too small for us. It would need to be bigger."
"System resource usage. Knime will occupy total system RAM size and other applications will hang."
"The data visualization part is the area most in need of improvement."
"It could be easier to use."
"The license is quite expensive for us."
