Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The fact that it's from Microsoft, you don't have many false positives, unlike products from other vendors might have.""Auto-remediation: When the product sees malware, it resolves the issue immediately. This protects the machine.""It automatically detects intrusion and malware.""The solution integrates very well with Windows applications and Microsoft endpoint products.""Defender for Endpoint has one dashboard with security-related information, vulnerability-related information, and basic recommendations from Microsoft, all in different tabs. That's helpful because if we want to fix only the recommended ones, we can go fix all of them...""The patch management is very easy, as it can be done automatically or added to a schedule.""In my opinion, the most valuable aspects are the reporting analytics and integration with Sentinel. Defender does an excellent job of correlating the different entities that comprise threat analysis, analytics data, and log analytics. It helps to piece together investigations into any exploit or malicious activity within a specific tenant. AI and analytics tools are probably the most valuable components.""I've started to test it from the security point of view. There are plenty of features that are interesting, but at this time, the XDR functionality is most valuable. It is endpoint security on steroids."

"It is the most effective on non-encrypted traffic and it is able to determine some threats through deep packet inspection.""The pricing of the solution is okay. It's not the most expensive option.""I haven't a problem with anti-virus stability using WatchGuard for over two years."

Cons
"It makes your Surface devices hot. It is resource-intensive. It strains your CPU, not more than other file scanners around, but it also does a lot more. When you are transmitting files or data, it is continuously scanning the traffic and analyzing it bit by bit to see what's going on, and that, of course, is costly in terms of CPU. It is CPU intensive, and if you are on battery, it drains your battery fast. That's the only drawback that it has.""The interface isn't necessarily intuitive to a nontechnical person. You can get stuck in the little endpoint security portal. Sometimes, if you uninstall a competitive product, the end user doesn't always know if it's running or if they're protected even though it's silently running. There could be a notification, widget, or something that's resident on the screen for at least a bit, especially if you're doing remote support. You want to talk them through it, but sometimes, we're not allowed to look at the PCs we support.""The second major area for improvement involves enhanced capabilities for different operating systems or platforms. That is, even though we have coverage for different operating systems or platforms such as Linux, we don't get all of the controls and enhanced capabilities that are available with Windows devices.""The scalability could be improved - I would rate it between a seven and an eight.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is secure but when it comes to security all solutions could improve security.""We'd like the stability to be better.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint should include better automation that will make it faster to detect the latest threats happening across the world.""I think Microsoft needs to improve some of the security aspects of Defender. The email part, in particular, needs to be improved in terms of security effectiveness."

"The solution isn't what I would consider feature-rich.""It doesn't offer the best protection and it's incompatible with a lot of China's websites. It makes a lot of mistakes when it is detecting items as it's not recognizing items correctly.""WatchGuard technical support requires a license."
