We performed a comparison between Microsoft Power BI and Splunk Enterprise Security based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Tableau, Oracle and others in BI (Business Intelligence) Tools."It's a pretty scalable product."
"It is a pretty straightforward and flexible solution for data integration and modeling. It is a low-code solution. When you are doing data integration, you can use the GUI, which is very simple and straightforward. You can also do very intricate custom queries and model it at different levels. It is very easy to use and scalable."
"It seems stable. I haven't heard of any difficulties from my clients that utilize Power BI."
"Microsoft BI's initial setup is very straightforward."
"The solution is stable."
"There is also a chart store where we can download charts, which is extremely useful."
"Being able to transfer data with the Power Query feature is great for teaching with about one to two hundred rows of data. I am also able to see the relationship between multiple tables and create various sheets and dashboards."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is the dashboard. It's very intuitive."
"The client site login is pretty extensible and probably cost-effective."
"It is very scalable."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is able to process a huge amount of data without any issues."
"I have also been able to take advantage of some of the more complex statistical capabilities when analyzing logs."
"We are using Microsoft 365 and we're using the Exchange Mail Service. It's good for monitoring that in particular."
"The scalability of the solution is amazing because it can collect a lot of data and you can have your own structure to monitor this data."
"In the past we used the different application to collect logs. We used SurfWatch and VMware to do so. But, we found that the Splunk has more capacity to do more in less time. They provide a aster speed to index all the events , and this is a huge asset."
"I would like to see integration with Excel."
"Adding paginated reports to this tool could be of great help for users who want to move away from SSRS."
"It would be better if they had some video tutorials. Most people from an Excel background may struggle with measures in Microsoft BI."
"In the future, Microsoft BI can be better by increasing user-friendliness"
"I would like them to provide a license that just allows us to see dashboards. What I don't like about this solution is that in order to just watch a dashboard, you need a license. Currently, you need to purchase a full license of Power BI Pro just to see something, which is not attractive. If you have a license, you can see a shared dashboard, but you can also build a dashboard or you can collaborate with other people. However, if you only want to see a dashboard, there is no license for that. I only want to see the dashboard, and I don't want to do anything more than watching the information on the dashboard. There is no license that allows you to see a shared dashboard. This is one of the areas of opportunity because I would like a lot of people to be able to see a shared dashboard, not to interact with it or to collaborate online with it. I would like to see more compatibility with non-Microsoft data sources. Given the fact that everything is related to Microsoft Azure and all services available on Microsoft Azure, I see that they're building more connections to Microsoft Azure services instead of other non-Microsoft services. I understand the strategy, but it would be good to have more compatibility with non-Microsoft data sources."
"It seems that the solution could use more analytics to help users draw more contextual business insights. Right now, you need other solutions for that."
"I think because I'm moving more into RPA, I'd definitely like to see integration across the RPA, Power BI, or Tableau platforms, because that integration could then make automation and mundane reporting much faster."
"Things can slow down if you create too many pages."
"The threat management part is still lagging. There are some gaps in threat management. Other vendors have built-in threat management systems, but Splunk lacks the threat management component in its portal. The UEBA and everything else is perfect, but it lacks a unified threat intelligence and management part."
"Most of my interaction is with the user community, which is how Splunk wants it. When I need help, that community is very hit or miss."
"The Web Application Firewall will send you too much information because it's more dedicated to security than a normal firewall."
"They should make data onboarding easier."
"Splunk could enhance its services by providing more comprehensive professional assistance aimed at optimizing our investment."
"Splunk could improve its default machine-learning models. Also, Splunk Enterprise's native threat intelligence isn't that good. I prefer a custom threat intelligence model."
"While Splunk Enterprise Security offers valuable features, its cost is high and could be more competitive."
"While Splunk offers SOAR as a separate product, integrating it into the next version of Splunk Enterprise Security as a unified solution would be beneficial."
