Tenable and Prisma Cloud offer strong security solutions with varying deployment times and pricing structures. Tenable focuses on customizable reporting and centralized management, while Prisma Cloud is praised for its multi-cloud visibility and threat detection capabilities.
The summary above is based on 140 interviews we conducted recently with Tenable Security Center and Prisma Cloud by Palo Alto Networks users. To access the review's full transcripts, download our report.
"The two most valuable features are container security and the capability to discover workloads."
"Prisma Cloud has enabled us to take a very strong preventive approach to cloud security. One of the hardest things with cloud is getting visibility into workloads. With Prisma Cloud, you can go in and get that visibility, then set up policies to alert on risky behavior, e.g., if there are security groups or firewall ports open up. So, it is very helpful in preventing configuration errors in the cloud by having visibility. If there are issues, then you can find them and fix them."
"The container and serverless security is most valuable. It is quite a new technology for this region. Even though containers have been there for a long time, the adoption of containers is very minimal in this region. When it comes to using Kubernetes containers in a complex architecture, there is a lack of security in the market. People aren't aware of the security controls or the process for governance. Container security provided by Prisma Cloud is quite good at filling that gap."
"CSPM is the most valuable feature for any organization that runs its workloads in the cloud."
"The first aspect that is important is the fact that Prisma Cloud is cloud-agnostic. It's actually available for the five top cloud providers: AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle, and Alibaba Cloud. The second aspect is the fact that we can write our own rules to try to detect misconfigurations in those environments."
"The most valuable feature of Prisma Cloud is WAF (web application firewall)."
"The most valuable feature is its cloud security posture management."
"The most valuable feature is the option to add custom queries using the RQL language that they supply so that we can customize the compliance frameworks to what we need to look for."
"It's a very useful tool."
"The tool gives us fewer false positives. Compared to its competitors, the solution’s reports are more accurate."
"The scans are the most valuable aspect of this solution."
"The tool provides us insight into the happens of the network and its hosts. It provides me with a list of hosts."
"The solution is completely stable and operation is user-friendly."
"The tool's dashboard and reporting capabilities match our company's needs since we are able to modify the basic view to create a new dashboard, and it works out very well for our needs."
"I think that this is a good solution for evaluating vulnerability in the network."
"Tenable.sc is user-friendly."
"The feedback that we have given to the Palo Alto team is that the UI can be improved. When you press the "back" button on your browser from the Investigate tab, the query that you're working on just disappears. It won't keep the query on the "back" button."
"The challenge that Palo Alto and Prisma have is that, at times, the instructions in an event are a little bit dated and they're not usable. That doesn't apply to all the instructions, but there are times where, for example, the Microsoft or the Amazon side has made some changes and Palo Alto or Prisma was not aware of them. So as we try to remediate an alert in such a case, the instructions absolutely do not work. Then we open up a ticket and they'll reply, "Oh yeah, the API for so-and-so vendor changed and we'll have to work with them on that." That area could be done a little better."
"Prisma Cloud's dashboards should be customizable. That's very important. Other similar solutions are more elastic so you have the power to create customized dashboards. In Prisma Cloud, you cannot do that."
"I think Prisma Cloud could improve its preventive governance policy and CWP run time modules."
"The pricing for the solution needs improvement."
"The first time I looked at Prisma Cloud, it took me a while to understand how to implement the integration or how to enable features by using the interface for integration. That portion can probably be improved."
"We are encountering issues with the new permissions required for AWS integration with Prisma."
"The visibility on the SIEM needs to be streamlined so we can get the data without any issues."
"There's a lot of information being streamed out of the reports. What would be nice, and maybe we just haven't found it, would be more of an executive-type view. We still expect it to collect all this information, but we would like a feature that would allow us to show it to an executive or a director or someone like that and give them some type of high-level overview but not get into the nitty-gritty."
"It's good at creating information, it's good creating dashboards, it's good at creating reports, but if you want to take that reporting metadata and put it into another tool, that is a little bit lacking."
"Tenable SC could improve by making the creation of the initial reports easier that correspond to our network."
"I think the vendor training provided for Tenable.sc could be a lower price. It's quite expensive for the training."
"The solution is expensive."
"The solution needs to improve the vulnerability assessment because we have experienced some challenges with accuracy."
"Tenable's reporting engine needs improvement. It needs to be more efficient and add more features."
"The biggest issue I have with the solution is when I'm using the scanning it picks up the original DNS of that device. That means, before we image it and actually change the DNS to something within our company structure, it'll just be random numbers and letters and Tenable will stick to that DNS for a long time."
