EMC Announces Release of Open Source ViPR Controller

EMC Corporation today announced it plans to release an open source project based on EMC ViPR Controller, named Project CoprHD, into the open source community, the first open source project based on commercial software EMC has ever done. Project CoprHD is set to be licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 to enable customers, partners, developers and other storage vendors to access, expand and contribute to its breadth and depth of features and functionality, with all storage vendors are encouraged to contribute to the project.

Project CoprHD APIs are engineered to provide developers a single, vendor-neutral control point for storage automation, with the goal to provide simple storage management for both EMC and third-party arrays. Source code is planned be available on GitHub in June 2015.
