New Cloud HCM Reviews for Q2 2017
SuccessFactors vs. Workday vs. Oracle HCM Cloud

Which cloud human capital management tools are most popular among human resources professionals?

In Q2 2017, IT Central Station users have been writing about popular solutions on the market, such as SuccessFactors, Workday, and Oracle HCM Cloud.

Read the review excerpts below to find out what real users think about their software of choice.

SuccessFactors: Valuable Features

An SAP SuccessFactors Learning Consultant at a recruiting/HR firm with 501-1,000 writes about SuccessFactor’s learning management system solution:

SuccessFactors includes a variety of talent solutions, core HR, collaboration tools and workforce analytics.

One of the talent solutions is a learning management system (LMS), which is also my main area of responsibility. Based on my overall experience in the SAP world, I consider the LMS a key component tool to engage people across the organization. It might be challenging to set it up and align with clients' requirements. However, once it is done, it becomes very handy and easy to use from a user perspective.”

Workday: Valuable Features

A VP Information Technology at a tech services company with 1,001-5,000 employees shares how Workday’s API capabilities have helped simplify audit integration

“The API’s have enabled us to really deliver reliable automation to the company. This isn’t just critical, because we can create ease of use, though that is really nice.

Reliable, auditable integration has reduced the complexity and cost of our ongoing audits. Users get the access they need when they need it, and it is removed when we need it removed. Workday, for us, is the tip of the spear for so much of what we do downstream.”

Oracle HCM Cloud: Valuable Features

A Project Manager at a recruiting/HR firm with 51-200 employees specifies which of Oracle HCM Cloud’s features he has found most valuable, such as:

  • Best-Fit Analysis Feature:

“Helps you to identify the correct position for the correct employee. You can visualize all gaps that you have in the current position or for the next level in your career. You can also compare two employees to see the difference between them or compare them to a specific position or job.”

  • Mobile and Social:

“This solution has a social network for your company where you can manage knowledge sharing and collaboration. Communities, chats, kudos, etc., can all be used to support your HR processes, such as goals and performance management. This can be done on your mobile device.”

SuccessFactors: Room for Improvement

This HR Solution Architect, who works at a mining and metals company with 1,001-5,000 employees, also speaks of his experience with SuccessFactor’s LMS admin tool:

LMS, the admin tool, is quite complex and requires a lot of admin work. The admin tool in LMS is a ‘system inside another system’ as the former Plateau, and the logic is not so self-evident as it is in BizX modules. SuccessFactors has ensured well that the LMS user experience continues but the admin tool is still separate from the BizX admin centre.”

Workday: Room for Improvement

Harrison Jacob, a Senior Associate (Management Consulting) at a tech vendor with 1,001-5,000 employees, writes about the challenges involved in using Workday for large data sets:

“It's great for operational/detailed reporting and some low-level analytics, but for heavy-duty analysis against large data sets, I find it's a bit lacking.

For instance, the indexed data sources only work when using non-calculated fields. Most clients have a TON of calculated fields used for reporting purposes, so I find this severely limits the appeal of such data sources. Non-indexed data sources don't perform very well against large datasets compared to a data warehouse/star schema/OLAP cube.”

Oracle HCM Cloud: Room for Improvement

Richard Atkins, EVP Oracle Cloud Applications Practice at a tech services company with 51-200 employees, suggests improvements be made to Oracle HCM Cloud’s time management capabilities

Time Management solution. The native mobile application TAP is in great need of improvement. Apparently, a new version is coming in R12, so we look forward to seeing this.”
