I would say my favorite feature with Acronis Backup software is creating one job that will backup all of our VM servers. We have about 50 servers and we need to get all of them backed up, and it keeps you from having 50 different backup jobs listed, backup tasks. You create one, and you go in, and you select all of the VMs that you want, or the ones that you don't want, you just leave them unchecked. Then, anytime you add in a new VM server to your environment it's very easy to just go in and add to that new server to the backup job that you already have, you don't have to create anything new, you just add it in, and you're good to go. One thing I’m very much impressed by is the compression ratio. The rate at which it compresses the data during backup is really very good. In fact, I’d say it’s better than Symantec Backup Exec. I have Backup Exec, in my environment, and I have Veeam. Symantec is now Veritas, so I have played with all the backups, but the way in which this handles the compression is really one of the key features. It’s also very, very stable. I haven’t made any changes to it. I just installed and it’s working. I restored a couple of times, and everything seems to be fine. View full review »

* Supports peer-to-peer backup using Minio, which has allowed us to easily pre-seed and maintain an off-site backup within driving distance, making tactical recovery of accidental file deletions easy. * Supports a wide variety of back-end data storage providers. We use one of the big players for strategic backup in the event of a major infrastructure failure. * Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end. * Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions. My favorite feature is that we use it for backing up our VMware environment and then, we just have a few physical servers. I like that I can configure a single backup so as to backup all the VM servers. I also like that it gives you a place for backing up to multiple locations of all the backup jobs/plans. Other features such as setting up the vaults, email notifications, restoring a full VM, restoring just down to files and folders (once you know exactly how to do it, it's very easy and quick to do) are also valuable. So, there are a lot of things that I really like about it. Special for IT Central Station Visitors: Free 30-Day Trial of Acronis Backup 12.5 View full review »

Technical Consultant / EUC Specialist at a tech services company with 51-200 employees
The ability of instant VM recovery, which means starting the backup VM and getting it online while the recovery is still happening is the most valuable feature. Also, the ability to construct a multi-tier backup system, where the final backups can even be stored on tape. It is the best product for backup of virtualised servers, individual VMs and single servers. The product is getting even better by being able to back up single files as well View full review »

I use two products. I use the backup solution and I use something called Disk Director, which is a related product. Together, they allow me to manage all of my storage space. I'm a software developer and I'm often reconfiguring things. These tools help me backup my workstations and servers on a regular basis. They also help me reconfigure for a new project. Russell Lynch says in a Zerto review
Systems Specialist at a insurance company with 51-200 employees
Zerto is packed full of useful features. The main feature is easy to manage, you will not need to be in Zerto day to day as it runs flawless. Zerto has a plugin to integrate seamlessly into VMware VSphere tab. I would highlight is the fact Zerto was used to migrate all of our VMs from one data center to another data center (two different physical locations) when we upgraded to new hardware. The migration was a breeze. My second valuable feature is being able to click just a few points in the program to initiate a test vm recovery at our DR location. After testing, all test VMs are deleted along with the data. This is automated, you do not need to interact with deleting VMs. In Zerto depending on your hardware and internet connection between your production site and DR site you can expect an RPO of 15 seconds. As of the summer 2016, Zerto just created an extremely fast way to recover files from their journal. Instead of going to our long term backup program and taking a half hour or longer to find a file, Zerto is getting me the file in 4min. This is making my life easier and keeping users happy. We evaluated different options and we picked the most significant one, Veeam. The main features about the Veeam Backup & Replication suite I like are: * If a Veeam image is copied to a replication machine, then Veeam automatically checks to see if ransomware attacked or not. * Veeam will automatically check if a file is corrupt or not. If a file is corrupt, then it will not make a backup copy to the replication server. That means the corrupt file is not copied to replication. * We have confidence that our replication image is good and not corrupted as VM machines. These are the significant features and there are a lot of features with Veeam. You need to first check out the Veeam website. View full review »

Infrastructure Section Head at a real estate/law firm with 201-500 employees
We migrated our servers from physical to virtual with our B2B platform. We had a big problem when trying to transfer our site server that was about six terabytes to the new environments. We wanted to do it with minimal effort and without changing the permission because if we do a copy, the permissions won't work. We put a Veeam Windows agent on these physical servers, did a backup and then we were able to take this backup as a drive that is connected to the new VM environment. It has helped us transfer the solution in two days instead of working for a minimum of one week to ten days. View full review »
