Chris Childerhose says in an EMC Data Domain review
Solutions Engineer at ThinkON
I would rate it at 5/5 as the deduplication and compression of the device for backups is outstanding. We have about 55TB total space on the Data Domain which we send Veeam backups to and we have sent over 200TB to the array. The Deduplication and Compression are the most valuable as it allows us to back up allot more data to the device knowing it will compress it well. View full review »

Data Domain Boost has a unique protocol. I don't think other vendors have a similar protocol and controls from the products I have had experience with. There are alternative solutions, but Data Domain Boost is really efficient. Compared to these other products, I found the efficiency of Data Domain Boost to be superior. View full review »

I think the biggest advantage it offers is backup, for end-users as well as computers, not only servers and storage paths. The solution can also backup end users. One of the most important things is also deduplication. View full review »

Chief Executive Officer at Nettobe Group
For us, the LIVE Boot was quite impressive because we runs mostly on VMware, on one occasion, we had an issue and the time we took to get back online was impressive. We did not have got restore, but to start the VMs directly from the Backup Appliance, and this was a total game changer. We can have our machines up in some minutes, while we keep doing our normal disaster recovery. And the magic is that all works that are being done on the live running machine are not lost when we switch back after completing our restoration. The second, but not least, was the management platform which is very easy and very intuitive. It is not difficult to configure a backup strategy, and manage our backup and restore. Very user friendly, made to ease the job of the administrator and letting the solution do the hard part, View full review »

The most valuable feature is the support for plug-ins. For example, when backing up a server through data domain, it can take a long time. However, when you are using Boost, you just install a plug-in on the target server and the backup job is scheduled. View full review »

The most valuable feature of this solution is the ability to browse and get upgrades from the webpage. I can just go browse, then upgrade and update the firmware package. I manage StoreOnce from the OneView, which is an added advantage. The view of the portal is very good now. From a centralized system, I can manage the interface, the backup policies, and the status of the database. The new version is offering a cloud backup. It has keyboard data enclosed. It is also connected to the cloud storage. View full review »
