We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Being able to transfer data with the Power Query feature is great for teaching with about one to two hundred rows of data. I am also able to see the relationship between multiple tables and create various sheets and dashboards.""The most valuable features in Microsoft BI are the analysis using the feature drag and drop function. It's very easy to load and use different data sources.""Ability to extract data from a variety of sources and systems.""Microsoft BI's dashboards are helpful.""The solution is stable with reasonable performance.""In my opinion, Microsoft BI is a low-cost solution, and it could be an interesting solution for a tourism company.""The most valuable feature is that it's easy to use. It's very useful for non-engineers and it is the ultimate solution for providing information and insights. Power BI is the best visualization tool I have ever worked with.""The solution is very easy to use."

More Microsoft Power BI Pros →

"I have found the most valuable aspect is the user-friendly environment and current features.""The solution is scalable.""It is highly efficient and easily scalable, particularly for handling large databases.""Unlike relational, where you're linking together multiple tables, with Essbase, you basically define what the dimensions are beforehand, and you define the hierarchy, and then load the data. This allows you to do a pretty sophisticated analysis so that you can drill into it and slice and dice the data.""The solution is stable and reliable.""Essbase is extremely stable and low-maintenance.""The solution can handle a large volume of data.""It helps us fetch specific data sets per users' requirements."

More Oracle Essbase Pros →

"Ability to create our own reports.""I like the cloud deployment feature. There are about 20 new features, and they are available on mobile and more. I haven't used any of them, but these features are highly attractive.""The solution is user-friendly.""The most valuable feature of Oracle OBIEE is it's designed for Oracle. It works well in the Oracle environment and can sit on top of any application.""I think having the conformed structures makes it a lot easier for end users and pulling reports together.""It is a stable and scalable solution.""It provides excellent stability.""The most valuable feature of Oracle OBIEE is interactive reporting because it allows better analysis versus conventional reporting, especially on the data warehouse side."

More Oracle OBIEE Pros →

Cons
"It should be easier to use when there are multiple system sources.""We need more integration capabilities.""The integration with third-party products could be more stable.""I have a little problem with Synapse Analytics because it's very new. It's a product that has many capabilities, but it is not very well developed. I have to see the list of permissions from one object. I can't do this in Synapse. I have to search on the web for a solution because I don't have the tool for it.""Lacks the ability to copy data from BI into PowerPoint.""They asked you to pay if you want to synchronize more than eight times, you would have to go to a Power BI enterprise license, which is much more costly.""One of the more difficult things to do is to export some of the data from Power BI to Excel.""The graphic interface could be better."

More Microsoft Power BI Cons →

"Essbase has a programming language, and it has a couple of functions to do forecasting, however, their feature set for that is not that good.""I would like to see an integration with application performance management and a version control management tool.""The initial setup is pretty complex.""It's an expensive product to use.""The ability to drive external reporting out for development could be improved.""They should improve the solution's performance.""There is room for improvement in terms of cost-effectiveness.""The initial setup could be simplified."

More Oracle Essbase Cons →

"In our organization, we feel that data visualization for APIs is an area in which the solution lacks.""They should make the dashboard more intuitive.""One of the things that have been difficult with OBIEE during all the time that I've known it is that when something goes wrong, many times, the error messages are not specific, and you've got to spend a lot of time digging and digging and digging before you say, "Oh, okay. I figured out what it was." There should be more detailed error messages or troubleshooting messages.""It is not a good product for data visualization.""Its overall organization as an analytical tool, the layout of OBIEE, is not very good.""In terms of tech support, we have our own technicians. But, we did register for their help. When we register a call, it takes time for them to respond to us.""If the data is large, the dashboard takes a really long time. So, based on the database, if you have around a million cost contacts, the load time is very low, and the dashboard fails.""The main problem we face is migrating all of the reports into the solution."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."
