"The solution helps database tuning through query ID and SQL ID; we can fine-tune skill parameters and gather information to enhance operational analysis and performance.""Advisors provide quick access to Insight and best practice information for performance tuning and configuration.""The most valuable feature of Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control is the reporting.""The report feature is very useful.""I use the solution for troubleshooting.""The tool is mainly for monitoring databases, especially focusing on performance. It supports various databases, including Oracle, allowing daily activity monitoring. The solution enables displaying performance metrics, providing continuous tracking. It also offers management capabilities for connected databases, featuring graphical performance graphs. Users can perform tasks like killing sessions and controlling database elements. Additionally, it allows viewing tables, SAN disks, and other database components.""Once this solution is configured, it will help administrators centralize their management of the environment.""The valuable feature is job scheduling. It manages the database's scheduling, history, and growth, helping monitor CPU and space usage across the entire data center. It provides a comprehensive view of operations."

"Our time to deliver a fully unified three-tier app, at the right version, is one-twentieth what it was before. There is no manual intervention. No IP management. It just dramatically simplifies all of our processes.""The product is stable.""We provided the ability to request virtual machines to our end users. Before, this was a very manual process, which took engineers to do. Now, it's an automated process.""The automation of the redundant tasks and the implementation of ServiceNow are huge for us...""The most valuable features are the metrics and reporting aspects. The historical data and extraction enable us to tell where the trends are and where contentions may exist in the future.""The setup is getting better with each version.""Currently, the primary feature we're using in VMware Aria Automation is its ability to execute tasks quickly. However, we haven't explored other features like workload management or the full stack yet. So it's hard to make comparisons or fully utilize its potential until we expand our usage.""The self-service capabilities are by far the best that we've seen in terms of features. If the user is being able to log in and make requests himself, from the onboarding process all the way to the end, that's very helpful."

Cons
"The solution is just too expensive, so maybe the pricing could be better."

More Cisco Piston Enterprise OS Cons →

"The only negative thing about this product is that it doesn't support all environments or all applications.""The response time of the solution's technical support team is too long and should be improved.""The product lacks in the area of database, making it an area where improvements are required.""Because all our banking infrastructure is based on Oracle, I’ve tried to register Enterprise Manager on the middleware level, let's say, WebLogic applications. But I cannot say that I can do all the administration from Enterprise Manager, that I can do from the WebLogic Admin Console. So, I think here it needs some improvement: Things that you can do on the WebLogic Admin Console, you should be able to do them on the Enterprise Manager, so you don’t have to log into the Admin Console.""It is sometimes difficult to create configurations in Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.""They need to simplify it and make it lighter.""The on-premises installation is complex. It should be easier, especially for deploying agents that are running on a Windows machine that is running Oracle databases. It's very complex. Linux based machines aren't so complicated but it's complex for Windows.""Another point that can be improved is the agent instability in the monitored hosts, because sometimes an agent has to be resynchronized to recapture the information."

More Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Cons →

"The initial setup was complex from beginning to delivery. The current version is a bit more complex than version 7 to deploy.""I don't find it to be user-friendly or intuitive because, in my case, when I have to deploy SAP systems, I need to jump between the vRA, the vRO, and the actual vCenter itself. I need to go back and forth to do different things... I wish they could make it just one application, just vRA, that does all that. There might be a way to do it but I haven't figured out how to do it yet.""I don't find the solution to be intuitive and user- friendly. The GUI is really complicated. Tracking down logs and errors is very hard. Then, it takes a specialized JavaScript person to build. Also, I'm not sure how the upgrades are going now, but they definitely need to evolve the upgrade process. Finally, the logs are very generalized. Giving more of an indicator of what's actually going wrong, rather than just a generic error code, would help.""It needs to be more dynamic with variable customization to make new workloads more reliable. It also needs to be faster. We are exploring vRA version 8 right now and maybe what I'm requesting is available in the new version, but we haven't yet explored it fully.""The solution could be lighter. As an administrator, I would like to simplify the number of services I need to deploy. They took a significant step in that direction by removing all the Windows dependencies that we had in the past, but there are still a lot of services consuming resources.""The deployment mechanisms for the initial deployment of the product line lacks the appropriate documentation to give someone who's never used it before... There might be cases where someone wants to go to the website, go to the doc section, and do a step-by-step on how to deploy it. That's really not as brushed-up as other documents I've seen that they have. That would definitely be an improvement on their end.""There is an area of improvement. For example, you are migrating from a customer's existing data center to a new target data center. To facilitate this transition, you'll initially need to evaluate the customer's aging hardware hosting VMware, which is nearing the end of its operational life. The customer expresses the intention to upgrade to a newer version, necessitating an overhaul of everything in the new data center. As a Systems Integrator (SI), consultant, or architect, your recommendation would be to acquire the latest hardware with a specified configuration and then install VMware on top of it. However, there's a crucial aspect related to the infrastructure requirements for VMware to run seamlessly on that hardware. If there's an opportunity to potentially reduce these infrastructure prerequisites, it would be highly beneficial.""The solution is intuitive, but not necessarily user-friendly. In particular, it's the documentation. It's a lot of going-through-the-weeds types of scenarios. There is just an abundance of information, so it's a matter of understanding how the objects or the relationships exist, and then, obviously, being able to access that information and knowing how to make use of it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "We are using the free version. We are not using any licensed packages of Enterprise Manager, so I’m not quite sure how much each package is. As I understand it, there are different plug-ins that you need to buy for Enterprise Manager."
  • "The licensing costs are largely too high."
  • "Our customer uses Oracle Universal Credits to pay for their license on an annual basis. The price is definitely affordable."
  • "One has to pay for the enterprise version."
  • "On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
  • "The tool's pricing is competitive."
  • "Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control is a pretty expensive solution but worth the money."
  • "Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control is a little expensive."
  • More Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "From the customer perspective, the value was worth it."
  • "I'm very interested in the integration with Puppet. However, my organization doesn't have the funding for something like Puppet right now. If VMware would integrate that feature set (Puppet) into vRA. That would be very awesome."
  • "Better pricing is always handy, but I feel it's at the right price point."
  • "We have seen significant ROI. We used to have physical servers, it took 90 days to get a server, order it, buy it, and get it in. We have it down to 10 minutes, building a server with virtualization, and now that's too slow. So, we let the customer do it at their speed. Therefore, it is pretty much up in a couple of minutes and they have a server."
  • "The solution has helped to increase infrastructure, agility, speed, and provisioning in the time to market."
  • "There is confusion between licensing levels. There are three different licensed versions of vRealize Automation, and there are different things which can happen in each of them."
  • "vRealize automation really should be a front door to the whole VMware suite of products."
  • "As far as value is concerned, it has been essential to our environment. We have been able to deploy VMs quickly and the developers have their own sandbox, so they can spin up and destroy VMs at their own will."
