We performed a comparison between Microsoft Power BI, SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform, and SAS Visual Analytics based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Tableau, Oracle and others in BI (Business Intelligence) Tools."Microsoft BI's dashboards are helpful."
"Power BI is more powerful than other tools because it is new for us. Each new version has more capabilities, and we're expecting AI and ML features in the next version."
"Power BI has strong support from Microsoft. If you need help, they answer promptly. There are also several discussion groups where you can get information, like the product roadmap and any new things coming up."
"We can see that it's really improved the way end users can do their own graphs and pick their own fields of information and present that in a nice way."
"Easy to use. End-users can make changes to the graphics."
"The most valuable feature is shareability, where we can publish work to the cloud and share it with team members."
"The most valuable features of Microsoft BI are the variety of possibilities to connect to various data sources. The visualizations are easily done, have useful rollover functions, and there are continuous updates being made to the system. You can benefit from the various improvements."
"The solution is quite scalable."
"The platform uses a lot of Java technologies so the performance and system-level management are tricky because it needs a lot of resources."
"It can process big volumes of data fast."
"Through the use of Business Intelligence reporting and scheduling features, reports are generated and automatically sent according to a schedule. This has freed up countless hours spent performing the same tasks, month over month."
"BusinessObjects can handle a lot of usage on the front end, and many users can view these reports. It's a relatively stable and secure tool."
"It has got great flexibility. As a reporting tool, it has a great deal of flexibility for numerous data resources that you can bring into it. It allows you to write your SQL query directly within the product. So, it allows you to do server-side joins instead of pulling all the data into Crystal Report to aggregate that data. It has great visualization. For the most part, it operates quite efficiently."
"We find that we can scale it as needed."
"The development using SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform is very good."
"Enables us to present data with Smart Objects that can be embedded within presentations and which automatically update when the presentations are run."

"The most solution's notable aspect, in my view, is the ability to integrate various data sources and harness advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. This helps with quality assurance processes."
"We've found the product to be stable and reliable."
"Quick deployment to dashboards and analytics features (using SAS Visual Statistics and Enterprise Guide). Easy to create a simple forecast and discover business insights using segmentation tools."
"It integrates well with SAS, making it simple and quick for developers."
"Data handling is one of the best features of SAS Visual Analytics."
"Great for handling complex data models."
"The technical support services are good."
"Visual Analytics is very easy to use. I use Visual Analytics for all the typical use cases except text mining. I used it to analyze data and monitor statistics, not text mining. I also use it for data visualization as well as creating interactive dashboards and infographics."
"Real-time refreshing for SAP BW would be nice. We know its on the radar for the development team at MS. "
"I have been doing trial and error to figuring out how to do the data analyzing and modeling. There could be some improvement to simplify it."
"You need to purchase upgraded support separately."
"If you need data in real-time, it's not an ideal solution."
"It is too slow. I hope in future it will be a comparable big data tool, such as, for example, Data Lake."
"The graphic interface could be better."
"There are some problems with the functionality of this solution. The dashboard is not very user friendly and is quite complicated."
"This solution's performance when handling big data could be improved. Right now, if you're handling big data, the application becomes slow and the performance is very low."
"It is not simple to use."
"It could be a lighter solution."
"There is room for improvement in providing more user-friendly and versatile reporting options."
"The user interface should be easier to use and navigate."
"I really want SAP to focus on the dashboarding side. Based on what I have seen in the past 10 years, dashboarding has captured a lot of markets. Executives at the top-level want data that is summarized, looks good, and tells you a story. That's where Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI have an upper edge. It doesn't mean SAP doesn't give you dashboarding. They do have a dashboarding solution, but Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI are more intuitive and more attractive. I would like SAP to capture the dashboarding market as well, wherein they give at least some competition to other competitors. Presently, Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI are leading the market."
"The self-service area, or dashboard, needs some improvement. While the reporting itself is great, the dashboard and Analytics Cloud are not user friendly."
"SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform should be made easier for the end-users and the performance could be improved."
"Most of the Apps right now are into dashboarding. This tool, for the Crystal Reports in the phase I'm primarily working on, does not have those dashboarding capabilities, like in the other advanced tools like Power BI or ClickView, and compared to them the dashboard generation is not that great."

"The solution is a little weak at the front end."
"The solution should improve its graphics."
"The installation process can be a bit complex."
"Colours used on report objects"
"There are a few little things that are predefined and can be done out of the box immediately. There is no business intelligence application that is predefined, which is something some customers or prospects would love to have. Small and mid-sized companies would struggle with it because they prefer something standard that has been predefined by somebody else."
"The reason we haven't rolled it out across the board is due to the fact that the licensing is so expensive."
"There is a need for coding when it comes to digital reporting which can be intimidating."
"A bit more flexibility in the temperatization will be helpful."
