Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability.""ODI is a very accessible tool, especially since the mapping functionality has been added.""It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load.""All our systems can be widely integrated by ODI, such as transactional systems, our data warehouses, and B2B integration.""It allows us to use many languages to develop and to integrate practically all the technologies of the Oracle suite as well as those from non-Oracle vendors.""Besides loading data, we do most of our transformations in ODI.""The most valuable feature of ODI is the to use of the whole ETL to create a data lake.""ODI's best features are customization, integration with other versioning tools, and the ability to define new knowledge modules."

"The core features of the solution we like are the reliability of the data transfer and the accuracy of data read and write. The stability of the solution is also excellent.""Because of the volume of the transactions, we heavily use a feature that allows SharePlex to replicate thousands of transactions. It's called PEP, Post Enhancement Performance, and that has helped us scale tremendously.""The core replication and its performance. Performance is crucial, and SharePlex is by far the fastest. The way it handles replication to multiple targets along with basic filtering, as well as from multiple sources to a single target, is very efficient.""I like SharePlex's Compare and Repair tool.""There are some capabilities within SharePlex where you can see how the data is migrating and if it still maintains good data integrity. For example, if there are some tables that get out of sync, there are ways to find them and fix the problem on the spot. Since these are very common issues, we can easily fix these types of problems using utilities, like compare and repair. So, if you find something is out of sync, then you can just repair that table. It basically syncs that table from source to target to see if there are any differences. It will then replicate those differences to the target."

"Workato is low code, intuitive, and easy to use.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""Their automation and workflows are very strong, and you can build the workflows very easily and quickly.""It is very easy to use. It takes complex workloads away, and it provides very smooth integration. It has got a lot of out-of-the-box connectors. It has got a lot of out-of-the-box APIs, which makes it really easy to integrate with applications for different use cases, whether it is in finance, HR, or customer operations. It is by far our favorite integration product.""It is easier to use than other technical open-source technologies.""The most valuable features are easy integration, quick tab to develop, quick tab to market, and interactive integration platform.""It's easy to understand, makes flows and is efficient."

Cons
"ODI could improve by focusing on streamlining its features without unnecessary overhead.""It would be really good if Oracle considered enabling the tool to integrate with some other platforms that are deprecated simply for commercial reasons""The solution lacks some functions and features.""The performance of the user interface is in need of improvement.""Overall the product is fine, but sometimes its reports unknown errors while we compile ETL scripts.""I rate it a seven out of 10 because there is room for growth because ODI is still new, in comparison to Informatica, which is a mature product.""We used a third party to do the implementation of ODI.""At present, when multiple steps are executed in parallel in the load plan and errors occur, the error handling mechanism does not function correctly."

More Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Cons →

"The reporting features need improvement. It would be very good for users to have a clear understanding of the status of replication.""I would like the solution to have some kind of machine learning and AI capabilities. Often, if we want to improve the performance of posting, we have to bump up a parameter. That means we need to stop the process, come up with a figure that we want to bump the parameter up to, and then start SharePlex. Machine learning and AI capabilities for these kinds of improvement would tremendously help boost productivity for us.""I don't know how easy it would be to change the architecture in an already implemented replication. For example, if we have a certain way of architecting for a particular database migration and want to change that during a period of time, is that an easy or difficult change? There was a need for us to change the architecture in-between the migration, but we didn't do it. We thought, "This is possibly complicated. Let's not change it in the middle because we were approaching our cutover date." That was one thing that we should have checked with support about for training.""For its function in relation to replication (i.e. filtering), I'd give it a six or seven out of 10. GoldenGate has much more functionality by comparison.""I would like more ability to automate installation and configuration in line with some of the DevOps processes that are more mature in the market. That would be a considerable improvement."

More Quest SharePlex Cons →

"I would like to see the dashboarding and reporting processes improved.""The only minor drawback would be if there was a UI at the front of it, for apps and for a portal as well, it would make it really easy. It would be really useful if there were more apps capabilities.""From the deployment point of view, our customers encounter platform downtime where it does not serve the actual request on the systems.""Workato's Extract, transform, and load (ETL) and extract, load, and transform (ELT) are not very strong and could be improved for very complex transformations.""A limitation is that their cloud presence is only in North America and Europe.""It is tedious to make a tailor-fit function.""The management dashboard in the solution is an area with shortcomings that needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
  • "We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
  • "The solution is expensive because of the model they use. The cost is for the license and for support."
  • "ODI comes included when buying the cloud version of the Oracle database license."
  • "There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
  • "Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
  • "I have yet to determine the exact figure for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing, but it has lower pricing than Informatica."
  • "The Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing isn't expensive, but it's not cheap, so it's in the middle. I'd rate the pricing as three out of five."
  • More Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is not as expensive as Oracle GoldenGate and has worked really well within our budgets."
  • "It's really good value for the money. There are some things they could improve on, but in terms of the pricing, features, and support, as a holistic package, we are not thinking of anything else at this point in time."
  • More Quest SharePlex Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "On a scale of one to ten, the pricing is around a six. We have a consumption model and the pricing is higher. If you are using any kind of ML-based approach, machine learning, or some advanced analytics, you may have to pay more."
  • "Speaking about price, I would say that it's market-related. Also, there are costs in addition to the standard license fees since different add-ons depend on what you require."
  • "Workato is an expensive solution."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) solution.

Brian D., Business Process and Strategy Specialist Advisor at NTTData, says, “The Knowledge Module (KM) is my favorite feature of ODI. This is where I learned how to use variables to make jobs dynamic. I took that knowledge and created a KM that would go into iTunes and pull the sales of eBooks. Making something that is reusable, like a KM, is important to not only reduce build time but also maintenance in the future.”

Ashok S., Applications Support Manager at a marketing services firm, mentions, "The most valuable features of ODI are the ease of development, you can have a template, and you can onboard transfer very quickly. There's a lot of knowledge modules available that we can use. If you want to connect, for example, a Sibyl, SQL, Oracle, or different products, we don't have to develop them from scratch. They are available, but if it's not, we can go into the marketplace and see if there's a connector there. Having the connector available reduces the amount of hard work needed. We only have to put the inputs and outputs. In some of the products, we use there is already integration available for ODI, which is helpful."

SharePlex database replication empowers your organization to achieve its database goals now and into the future. Make use of built-in monitoring, conflict resolution, data comparison and synchronization capabilities backed by award-winning support.
