We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We also have relationships specified with our IT systems and our organizational chart. That makes it possible to analyze things from the systems point of view and regarding the organizational part of the company. It all comes together in one tool and that is what gives us the most value at the moment.""MFT is quite attractive. A large amount of data is passed in almost no time and it is quite easy to use.""The shared repository allows for cross-functional cooperation instead of doing things in a silo. You can operate cross-functionally and really work end-to-end, instead of dividing everything up on a functional basis.""The capability to integrate all information of the business and to generate simulations of processes. It can analyze the model of operations quickly.""The most valuable feature in the latest versions is the connect portal, where you can do very simple modeling using the web-based portal.""It brings transparency and 360-degree views of end-to-end processes.""I am an advanced user. ARIS BPM is intuitive for me because I know the UML, BPMN, and EPC methodologies implemented in this tool. It is very easy to create processes for restructuring a company with some descriptions.""The EPC modeling is very detailed, the semantic check is helpful, and auto-layout simplifies the formatting."

"We like that it does not require a lot of hours to train our people.""It provides a very robust environment to build an integration framework or workflow patterns that we have. A lot of changes or modifications have been made to this solution over the past few years. The features that they have added this time have helped developers like us to work on the developmental environment and leverage all the capabilities of the tool. This is what I like about this solution.""It's a solid product. It covers most of the pain points for clients.""The designer feature, compared to other solutions is easy to use.""It has an elaborated way to explore the IBM BPM processes.""There are a lot of things that you get out-of-the-box: Timers and so on, which took a lot of effort and code before.""The functionality to design UI to be responsive and can run on multiple devices.""The possibility to add Java code as embedded .jar, that increases the flexibility of the solution."

More IBM BPM Pros →

"Kofax is very easy to use, UI-friendly and allows easy data extraction.""It is user-friendly and has good documentation. It's good for developing communication and has a lot of the APIs needed for this purpose. There aren't a lot of software options available from this time period; this is the only one from 2013 that has this concept of microservices.""The tool is low code which saves you from a developer.""Its integration capabilities are valuable. It has low code/no code features. You have to do minimal coding.""Kofax TotalAgility is stable.""One feature I like is that it makes the matrix easy for an unstructured document.""Kofax TotalAgility is a great design tool for reading handwritten invoices.""The most valuable features of this solution are automation, ease of billing processes with the process net, and low to no code development."

Cons
"The interface is a little archaic.""In terms of improvement, the app could use some small details and functionalities.""I had a hard time with ARIS's access and licensing policy. It requires you to pay for each step you want to take forward with the solution.""The usability. Others tools are easier to manage without same complexity that ARIS has.""Newer versions (9.x) are technically more difficult to maintain.""User interface (UI).""End-to-end visibility and real-time are areas that will need greater attention.""Its governance tool and integration with ESB and execution engine can be improved. Their partner support can also be improved."

More ARIS BPA Cons →

"We had a weird problem that whenever the database would go down, even for a few seconds, it broke the connection. It would not come back up as it was supposed to. However, working with IBM, we were able to figure out a fix, then it came back up, even after an interruption of the database.""Consider an admin console during deployment. I would like to migrate single instances, not the whole bunch at once.""We have been experiencing bad performance and instability.""We thought there might have been a little more discussion early on about, "Hey, if you're doing this, set it up this way," or some best practices or some guidance that we didn't get.""The initial setup can be tricky because IBM BPM is not based on a popular stack, and it's difficult to hire a developer for this product.""The initial setup was complex.""From the testing perspective and minor enhancements perspective, customization is something that is a little tedious as compared to new tools. In addition, various open-source tools that are available are not working with IBM BPM.""Performance in the development environment space. I know that they have been taking it off the desktop version and putting on the web, and it is not 100% yet."

More IBM BPM Cons →

"Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product. We came from Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, then we started learning Kofax TotalAgility, so there are a lot of things that were quite straightforward in the Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation cross-motion modules, but to do those in Kofax TotalAgility was a bit more complex or quite long-winded and could be improved. In the next release of Kofax TotalAgility, it would be good to have a straightforward low-code or no-code process because there were instances we struggled with having to put logic into a script or a .NET script, then calling that script, instead of the process being low-code, no-code.""They provide sufficient but not excellent technical support. Perhaps there is a point where they could use some improvement.""Sometimes there isn't enough accuracy when it comes to extracts.""It would be nice if the tool has more connectors to different systems. It is an expensive solution.""The pricing for Kofax TotalAgility could be more attractive, particularly the cloud version of the solution which was offered to my company. This is its area for improvement.""The one thing I would like to see more of right now: is a simplified form creation. That would be the most significant improvement I would like to see in their product.""It’s not truly low code yet, as every two or three projects, you will have a situation where you have to go behind the essential things. You will definitely still need to customize.""There needs to be more accessible certification and better pricing."

  • "It has a low cost to implement. You'll get your money back in the same year that you complete the project."
  • "The cloud and license of the subscription model for IBM BPM can be complex. There are a lot of alternatives to choose from."

  • "It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
  • "Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."
  • "It has a perpetual license. You pay once in a lifetime for the volume of scans you will do and the number of users you will have. You can have participants or regular users, and you can have developers and administrators. So, once you purchase it, it is for a lifetime, and then every year, you have to pay for the maintenance. There is an annual maintenance cost, which is about 18% of the licensing cost."
  • "The price of this solution is less than some of the competition."

    Reviews from Real Users

IBM BPM is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are that it’s good for developing complex apps, is robust, and has helpful team management and process performance features.

Zoran C., Owner/CEO at IT SPHERE, says, “It is perfect if you have to develop complex apps without much coding (only java script). It is also good if you don't have much IT resources in your company and would like to involve business analysts in the process of developing apps. My opinion is that it can do about 50% of all developers' work.”

Suhas V., BPM Architect at GBM, mentions, “Overall the solution is robust and has the ability to integrate with any product for complex workflows."

A BPM Consultant at a financial services firm comments, "Some of the features that I like the most are team management and process performance. They are both very useful and very powerful with regard to the workflow."

A Digital Banking & Innovation Director at a financial services firm expresses, “The processing functionality makes it easy to change processes and workflows easily.”
