We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I can't name the features the way the Knowage community calls them because I still don't know the lingo. However, I can describe them. I like the ability to join more than one report, set all fields on one end, and replicate that on the other reports. I like that a lot. I think it's one of the features that got me using Knowage. They have tables, and I like that too. They took SQL scripts and many other scripts and enabled them to even correlate with Python. That's also one of the best things about Knowage. You could also decide to get information per user role, and this is also a feature that I like in Knowage.""The embedding feature is great.""The concept of engines is quite powerful allowing the user to work with report authoring/provisioning tools of their choice.""We can easily do our own customizations."

"It is useful to use a tool like this to have a view of data at a point in time. You can extract and create little data sets that you can store, and then over time, you can have a view for tracking changes. Especially when you work with a relational database or a database that's a production database, the data is dynamic, but if you use QlikView, you can take a snapshot of different datasets. In your own time, you can then get insights and report, build, analyze, and draw whatever you need from the data, which is quite useful.""It is a stable product.""Data transforming with scripting, and the associative model that lets users browse data in an easy way, are the most valuable features.""The initial setup is not very complex.""If you correctly use the product for your use cases, it provides value for money.""It excels in supporting database connections and various database types.""QlikView is one of the strongest tools, I would say. Also, it has a very vast capability to process the data""E-T-L, The Extract, Transform, and Loading capabilities of QlikView make it a highly sophisticated self-service business intelligence tool for developers and analysts."

More QlikView Pros →

"It is very easy to create dashboards, charts, and graphs.""The most valuable features of the solution are the permission management and the user management.""Scheduled extract and the multiple connectors are fantastic!""Show Me is a feature to help with knowing which chart is an appropriate one for the selected variables, and it makes helps in creating appropriate visuals.""The best thing I like about Tableau is that you don't have to go for creating; it is calculated free.""The product has the best features for analytical views and filters.""The platform's most important feature is predictive analysis.""Tableau Prep tool for data preparation is a most valuable tool."

Cons
"The only challenge here is that it's a Java-based platform. It requires very high technical skills.""The dashboard components could be better.""It would be better if more resources were available to help us learn how to use it. I wanted to use Knowage for a more extended period, but learning materials around the product were not really available and were not really straightforward. I've also seen inconsistencies between versions. For example, under the tools, especially in the cockpit, the way you create reports is now different. You will also find some configurations within a particular state, like a line chart, which differs from version to version. I think consistency is an essential feature in a product, especially for business intelligence products.""Development of SpagoBI has now been moved to Knowage. Users interested in further developments of the platform will have to look there."

More Knowage Cons →

"It needs work with visualization.""Better source data connectors.""Improvements are required in the hide and unhide functionality that falls under the layout container feature that has been used in my company in recent times.""There is a lack of static PDF report generation and automatic resizing of the dashboard to fit the device.""They could provide a user-friendly analysis process rather than specialized IT resource code.""I would like to see more advanced features from Qlik Sense integrated into QlikView to keep it competitive and up-to-date.""QlikView's UI could be more user-friendly.""Needs improvement with UI transparency."

More QlikView Cons →

"The development part should be better. We are putting a lot of effort in during development, so if we face any struggles, we have to find workaround solutions on the internet.""The setup was easy but we are having some problems with the configuration that is taking a long time. We have done some initial tests and some of the delays could be from bandwidth issues. However, the whole installation process should be simplified.""Its documentation can be improved so that a user can get a good hands-on experience. Tableau is well documented, and on their website, there are a lot of tutorials that are available for free. I started my learning process through those tutorials, but there are certain loopholes in those tutorials, which only got filled through a couple of good YouTube channels that talk about Tableau. YouTube helped me a lot. So, the documentation could be better, I understand that it is evolving day by day, and with more usage, there would be more such documentation.""It needs more ETL capabilities, to be able to address the end-to-end BI need.""Maybe the price could be a bit cheaper, especially if you're a personal developer that uses Tableau just to explore smaller data sets and you're not a company or something like that.""When there are millions of records, scaling up is quite difficult.""When it comes to large datasets, the data should be extracted faster.""Most of the problems in Tableau Online that I have noticed have to do with performance or weird, inexplicable bugs that I can't pin down. For example, you might try unloading some data, and you'll be waiting for a long time without anything happening."

  • "For big business, Tableau could be expensive as having a lot of Tableau server users (entering with a browser to reports) could be a bit expensive."
  • "Best advice on pricing is to anticipate the desire for more licenses once the results of this product are acknowledged in other parts of your company."
  • "Paying for users you never setup or buying expensive desktop licenses for users who can solve their users with web editing on the server are the two biggest expenses."
  • "Buy 50 at a time. Project your use base every three months, and project your requirements forward."
  • "Tableau can be costly (but this can be indefinable, such as user experience vs. cheaper etc.)"
