We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It supports numerous platforms.""Actionable insight is the most valuable feature.""DX allows you to customize and gives you a high degree of control."

More DX SaaS Pros →

"The most useful aspect of this solution is the ability to customize it for the client agent.""The solution has a lot of plugins and scripts integrated with it.""Though I downplayed the administrative NCC GUI, this is by far the strongest aspect of the Nagios XI product.""The features I've found the most useful are the plug-ins, the fact that you can connect almost everything to it. That's very useful.""It's a monitoring agent. It's designed to do one thing. Its most valuable feature is its monitoring.""Nagios is stable and it's easy to use the monitoring software, which is why we chose this product.""You want to monitor a specific metric that nobody else has? You can do it even with the most basic of scripting skills, and you can always share it with the vast community of Nagios Exchange.""The most valuable feature is its support for different types of devices, where it can use all of the equipment that you need."

More Nagios XI Pros →

"The nice thing about Spiceworks is always it's free. Monitoring of printers for low toner. Finding machines that have low memory or low hard disk space.""Helpdesk and inventory are both equally valuable, and they form the true core of the product.""The solution is very stable. It's reliable and efficient.""It shows the users that are currently logged in, which is not something that Active Directory by default will ever let you know up front.""The most valuable features are the inventory and personalization.""It was easy to integrate Spiceworks with our existing setup.""It's easy to understand.""Spiceworks' dashboard allows you to drill down to the notes, where I can take an inventory of the network and see the devices I need to monitor."

More Spiceworks Pros →

Cons
"DX SaaS is a latecomer to the APM market. Some things that are straightforward in Dynatrace are complicated in DX. For example, upgrading the agents is a seamless process in Dynatrace, but it's a pain in DX SaaS. You should be able to upgrade in the Application Command Center. However, it is not working correctly.""The ability to scale presents a challenge as the cost of handling vast amounts of data in the cloud must be taken into account.""Old user interface and dashboards could be improved."

More DX SaaS Cons →

"The product uses the backend as Perl and could be modified to a more lightweight solution like what's being offered by other vendors.""Technical support is an area that needs improvement. It is not available 24/7.""The scalability of Nagios XI is scalable. However, it is not easy to do.""I would like a much easier GUI so that I can delete events and logs, which will free up a lot of space.""The reporting structure could be more streamlined.""It can be quite difficult to know which drivers and agents to use when setting up.""We often need to develop custom plugins to get Nagios to work the way we want it to work because the features we need are not always available in Nagios.""The Configuration Wizard needs improvement, because not all vendors are present."

More Nagios XI Cons →

"There are a lot of disadvantages to Spiceworks because it's not an agent-based solution.""The GUI must be improved.""With Spiceworks, like, when I open the websites, I have to Zoom in. I need to zoom in on those websites sometimes because it makes it horrible to use.""Once a device was recognized on the network, Spiceworks never got rid of it even after you took it off the network. You had to go in and manually remove it.""The network mapping could be improved. Putting together an actual bonafide network map would be really nice.""The SNMP sniffer requires a lot of work to get right.""One of the biggest ways in which Spiceworks could improve is by developing better and more automated workflows. For example, in another solution called ServiceDesk by ManageEngine, you can have levels of approval in the event that there is a request for new software, or when someone requests a VPN or WiFi connection. This kind of multi-stage approval feature provided by ServiceDesk does not appear to exist in Spiceworks, and it is one of their main shortcomings for me.""They've also tried to integrate it with social logins, like Twitter and LinkedIn, and that type of login authentication has no place in a corporate application."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
