We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Application Analytics' most valuable features are the real-user monitoring and the agents installed in the software stack on the application server.""Immediately allows you to see the relationships between the different nodes.""The analytics are great.""It's pretty stable.""We had no issues with scalability. It was very good for us.""All the metrics are baselines in networks, infrastructure, application, and user experience. AppDynamics offers its own query language. It is called ADQL. You can write code of any kind to do queries and analysis and you can use those within the reporting or within other research.""Provides good overall application performance and transaction errors."

"The most valuable feature is the way it handles data, from Layer 2 up to Layer 7. We can see everything that happens in the network.""There are many valuable features in this product, but probably the biggest is the customization capability it has.""Wire data analytics.""The most valuable features are security detections, perimeter detection, dashboards, and alerts.""This solution is more applications reference architecture focused. Its benefit is that it specializes in that space.""Not only can you look at the protocol import level. It also has a live PCAP analysis."

More ExtraHop Reveal(x) for IT Operations Pros →

"The varied prebuilt feature is the most valuable because it ensures that we have complete coverage over all of the key questions.""I have also been able to take advantage of some of the more complex statistical capabilities when analyzing logs.""There are quite a lot of things that we find useful. Splunk agents are useful and good. Its UI is quite impressive.""We were able to create a catalog of dashboards and have a holistic view at all levels. We could understand our business much better. Real-time errors, which were buried in emails before now, surfaced up on dashboards.""We primarily use it to correlate logs throughout the enterprise for both searching and use in investigations.""We have a more secure, robust environment, which keeps the harmful software out of the zone required.""Visualizations helped the organisation with a better understanding of its KPIs.""Alerts when a server is malfunctioning, monitors external attacks, and takes action to stop spreading viruses."

Cons
"The initial setup is a bit complex.""Application Analytics' performance in pure and native cloud environments could be improved.""This feature needs to be properly described to a client, and then the client needs to have a use case. There are some clients which do not need it and some clients who do. It is not for everyone and is dependant on their use case.""This is an expensive solution.""Customization requires a few manual tweaks.""The user experience is quite confusing. There are too many different development stages. The UI is not very intuitive.""The challenge in the installation is that you have to configure a lot of things manually. The way you install and configure it is not straightforward."

"They have a new solution, ExtraHop Reveal(x), and I think it needs improvement.""This solution would be improved if it had the ability to retain data longer.""We'd like to see a local presence within the region in order to have seamless service whether it's the support, the implementation, or professional services.""I would improve the Rule-Based Access Control (RBAC) by providing granular access control to the data.""Network visibility is something that needs to be improved.""They either have to go broad or decide what their bread and butter is and get really good at that."

More ExtraHop Reveal(x) for IT Operations Cons →

"It is a good product, but the Achilles heel for a lot of organizations is the cost model for it because it gets expensive. That's because the model is based on how much data it processes a day, which can be prohibitive, especially if you have a lot of data. A lot of customers may not be ready for the sticker shock on how to fully leverage the product. I realized that the reason for that is that when it was originally designed, it was kind of like a big data modeling application. If they want to have a bigger customer base, they can come out with subsets of their product that are focused on specific things and have different pricing models. It may help with the cost.""Missing capability for audio/video and image processing.""It will be helpful for customers if they can create some real-world cases, and we can find a case study to align with. I know that Splunk has tremendous potential. We only include a tiny piece of it. There is a lot of stuff that we need to learn. If Splunk can provide more real-time examples, that will be helpful for customers.""Cybersecurity and infrastructure monitoring have room for improvement.""The administration of the cluster and app deployment to indexers or search heads can be done only using ssh access and command line, there is no GUI tools for that.""We were inundated with the amount of alerts and alarms that we could get out of it. It is also a resource hog and we didn't have the resources to support it on-prem so we're taking it offline now.""The price has room for improvement.""We'd like to have the number of devices covered under the license to be increased."
