We performed a comparison between MySQL, Oracle MySQL Cloud Service, and SQL Server based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and others in Relational Databases Tools."The tool is open-source and there is no cost involved in its use."
"MySQL has cross-platform support for multiple operating systems. The backups on a Linux machine can be restored on a Windows machine, and vice versa."
"I rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten since it has been running flawlessly."
"The relations in the database, the dynamic workflow, and the ability to connect with all columns. It's useful for e-commerce."
"Compared to other databases, MySQL is cheaper and we were using the community edition which was free of cost. ML is fully integrated with the database in HeatWave. It has also many other features. MySQL is a far better solution in terms of pricing."
"The solution is very simple. It's easy to use. That's the most important feature."
"The most valuable features are that it's free and the documentation is good."
"I am totally satisfied with MySQL."
"The scalability of the database is absolutely guaranteed by the new features."
"Oracle MySQL Cloud Service handles data easily."
"It is very easy to start working with the product."
"The solution overall is very, very good. It's got good integration with other databases and adds new features often."
"The most valuable aspect of the product is data migration."
"The product is easy to learn."
"The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that it is flexible and is an open-source product."
"The product is good for tuning."
"There was an online system in which we had about 2500 requests to the DB per second. Every request had a completion window of one second to process and retrieve data. After switching to SQL Server, and AlwaysOn, and Snapshot, and tinkering, and configuring and tinkering, the handling capacity we measured increased to about 5000 requests per second, while the time decreased to 0.5 seconds per request."
"The Always On tool improves the SQL server availability."
"SQL Server's most valuable features are that it is a large number of community resources to help you out. that's one, and then it is quite powerful."
"Its usability is very good. Its performance is satisfactory."
"Microsoft SQL Server is one of the better database administration software packages out there. It runs primarily on Windows Server platforms, but it can also run on Linux platforms."
"The solution seems to be pretty flexible."
"I have experience with this product for many years. I never have problems with it. It can handle a PC, and it can also handle huge data. It is fast and efficient."
"I use it to fine tune my procedures and functions."
"The solution could be more secure."
"There should be an arrangement for end-users to get trained to use the tool...Improvement-wise, a graphical interface could be added for new users, eliminating the need to memorize the complex syntax."
"When I run into issues, I really have to research how to fix them."
"In the next release, I would like to see the scalability features improved to allow you to configure it and reduce the complexity with the configuration, making it easier for the end-user to scale. Make it as simple as it can be."
"The manuals or documentation could be better."
"The replication needs improvement. It's becoming a native cloud product like Oracle DB or Cockroach DB."
"The user interface could be more user friendly. Mainly because most of the times we see black and white digital lines. Something like Python."
"It does not stand out regarding scalability. When the company size increases, the user base having actual experience with (very) large MySQL solutions is reduced."
"The user interface is not simple."
"It requires a significant amount of expertise and effort to manage, especially when dealing with substantial volumes of data."
"In a production environment, upgrading from a lower to an upper version is a very long process that needs to be improved."
"They could include more advanced features like clustering and replication in the Oracle databases."
"The product has many bugs."
"The solution should offer memory management."
"The tool’s stability must be improved."
"Oracle MySQL Cloud Service's scalability is an area of concern that can be better."
"The remote access aspect needs to be improved in terms of security."
"The UX design of this system needs improvement."
"Could have additional security."
"I have experience working with SQL Server 2016 and older versions, including handling JSON data. Initially, I found the JSON capabilities to be less helpful, but over time, they have greatly improved. SQL Server now offers extensive capabilities for working with various forms of data, particularly when communicating with text, such as in JSON format. I particularly prefer working with these features on Azure, as it provides numerous possibilities, especially in the field of business intelligence (BI). Additionally, the serverless platform offered by Azure is highly beneficial and makes tasks easier to manage."
"SQL Server could be improved with cheaper licensing because it's very expensive."
"The performance could be better."
"SQL could be improved by making all features available on the on-premise version of the product as well as the cloud version. When you buy the on-premise version, it's sort of an inferior product compared to the cloud version, which seems to get most of the latest and greatest features."
"It may be a licensing issue, but sometimes its operating speed becomes slow if we have multiple users. It's lacking some performance, but it's acceptable because we have a heavy load."
