We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution offers good integration capabilities.""Out-of-box process orchestration yields quick implementations.""This solution allows for easy integration with heterogeneous applications.""It's highly stable, and the redundancy is amazing. B2B Integrator also has a high availability option to work in a cluster environment. You rarely have issues operating it because of the HA.""Everything from the order to fulfillment to the payment process, except for physical packing and shipping, is fully automated for some customer orders.""The solution is useful for transferring files from one format to another format. Also, the solution is useful in translation.""B2B Integrator is multi-platform, so it can be integrated with Windows, Unix, or whatever, and it can work with almost all programming languages. It can also transfer a lot of data in a short time. For instance, a system I recently implemented exchanges about 20 million files a day.""The most valuable feature of IBM B2B Integrator is its security and flexibility."

"It has a very robust dashboard and ad-hoc reporting.""It's web-based so that I can have multiple users accessing the same data. It provides ease of use and its formatting means we can use the data, export it to Excel, and we manipulate the data afterward if we need to.""The most valuable features are the reporting and the graphics.""Calculations are a little bit faster. It can do the on-the-run calculations much better than other reporting platforms. You don't need any other specific tool. You can use Microsoft Office to start doing things with these reports."

More Oracle BI Applications Pros →

"In our landscape, we have a lot of AS/400s or iSeries and SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite (BIS) has a file service listener that allows data to seamlessly be transferred between the SEEBURGER solution and the AS/400.""We had a requirement for transferring data to Amazon S3 buckets but we did not have a solution in our shop for large data transfers to Amazon S3. We worked with SEEBURGER and created a framework solution and now, using that solution, we can configure the transfer in an hour or two and enable it to go to existing or new S3 buckets.""It is stable and reliable. We have not had any issues.""When orders come in they go into our ERP system directly, so there is integration there.""I like that the tool has all the adapters — all the possible protocols that are in the industry. You pay for those adapters but at least it's all in one package. You don't have to get another tool or application to support another partner.""The tool's performance doesn't get affected by transformation loads. You can write any number of rules, filtering criteria, transformations, etc.""Mapping Designer provides excellent flexibility.""For the tool that we used to have, we had specially trained developers who used to do all the development of EDI maps and the configuration. But with SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite (BIS) now, we were able to train our EDI analysts, and because the tool has very simple, intuitive mapping capabilities, even our EDI analysts are able to develop all the EDI maps, do all the configurations, and do all the setups for any of the trading partners."

Cons
"When working on an elaborate rule, I end up creating it in notepad and then pasting it into the Extended Rule window, which is not convenient.""There are also some features in the solution that are not user-friendly, like code lists with no search options. So, we must navigate hundreds of pages to check for one entry.""Patching or upgrading the product is a bit of a nightmare. It would be nice if they removed the installation manager port. We find it complicates upgrading and patching a great deal.""The one thing that is lacking is easy visibility. It's hard to provide business users with a view into the statuses of their transactions.""End-to-end visibility and monitoring application required. The control center is available and covers this area, but it still fails in many monitoring scenarios.""IBM B2B Integrator could improve the business process itself, there is no resignation of duties and in terms of the console should be changed in a way that is more user-friendly.""API integration could be improved. The legacy system could be on the cloud.""The initial setup is complex."

More IBM B2B Integrator Cons →

"The initial setup was difficult because not all the information was included in the implementation model.""It is very cumbersome and slow for making any changes. It doesn't have that many visuals to show different graphs and charts. It should have more visuals. It also doesn't support HTML5, which is useful for interactive sessions and reporting with dashboard etc. We are phasing it out because we need a newer platform that provides us more flexibility and more designs. Our use case is just to get the utility type of monthly reports, and we need visuals, customizations, columns, and certain sections on the report to show performance and other things. They are not updating their BI Publisher product, which was known as XML Publisher before Oracle bought it. It could be because they don't have that many clients using it. We are using it because we have this solution for years.""The initial setup was complex and it took a lot of time to set up the infrastructure."

More Oracle BI Applications Cons →

"The speed of development needs improvement. If you acquire any customization, it can be a slightly slow process. I would like to see more flexibility around customizations. The time frame right now depends on the sophistication and customization, but we have to go through a process of getting them to develop, implement, and test it. This might take a couple of weeks. If it was a simpler system to customize, the time could probably be cut by half or down by even 25 percent of what it would normally take.""There might be some improvements they could make to the portal, but they're not anything that stops me from working.""I would like there to be a feature that could handle the limited server.""A true debugger that allows you to step through the process would be a good improvement. Right now, we are limited to reading the log file generated by the test screen in Mapping Designer.""It's rather difficult to understand, from the application, what's broken and why it doesn't work. We typically need to get support from them directly, and it's usually in a consulting role, to fix issues.""Some of the functionality for retriggering documents, where you have to step through a termination process and then retrigger it, versus just being able to restart or retrigger more easily, is a bit challenging, depending on the scenario.""We don't have much access to the logs or what's happening. So we have to log a ticket with SEEBURGER. We only get a message that something has failed... we have to open a ticket with SEEBURGER for them to tell us exactly what the issue is... I would like us to be able to be more self-sufficient.""I find the solution quite confusing to use, especially when looking at the tree structure."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We pay an annual fee based on the number of VPUs. It's fairly reasonable. We're in the middle of analyzing other products, and they're all pretty much in the same range."
  • "The solution is priced at $20,000 to $30,000 per year with no extra costs."
  • "The pricing is based on how many cores are used and the type of cores."
  • "Licensing depends upon the package you opt for within the solution. The solution is a bit costly compared to the other integration tools in the market."
  • "The price of IBM B2B Integrator is too high. However, IBM may be willing to give a discount if there are negotiations. If they see that there is a good opportunity for them they can provide a discount."
  • "The product costs more than 40K."
  • More IBM B2B Integrator Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "As with any case study that we’ve ever done, it’s not so much a problem with the application or security or anything of that nature. It’s basically the cost infrastructure. Compared to other solutions, it’s one of the more costly solutions out there. It’s the biggest concern nowadays that upper management has."
  • "It is expensive. It is more than 100K for support. You pay for support on top of the standard licensing, which is on a yearly basis."
  • More Oracle BI Applications Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The pricing seems to be competitive and the maintenance is standard."
  • "The pricing and licensing is very competitive."
  • "I did a review of other options out there, as we moved into the future and our SAP implementation, that this would be the right solution. It was very comparable to other manage services out there. Thus, there wasn't any clear-cut reason to go in another direction."
  • "The cost of the SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite (BIS) can be considered high. We have elected to have SEEBURGER consulting do the installation. Licensing could also be considered high. However, one would be hard pressed to find another product that does all that this one does."
  • "It has a very goofy pricing model in the sense that they have so many components and it's not very clear what components you require to do your work. When you ask for that, you learn that there's a surcharge for them. It's not that you buy a product and you can use all the compatibilities. They have all these different bits and pieces of it and you have to pay extra for all those things."
  • "Pricing, compared to the tool that we had earlier, is cheaper."
  • "The way they have their licensing structure set up, they have a lot of different modules. For us, we did not really know if we were licensed for certain things or not. We had to reach out to them multiple times to tell them that we were looking for this or that capability. We had to buy licenses for different things at different points in time, not knowing that we could have it bundled initially."
  • "The pricing is cheap. In fact, when I saw the pricing, I thought, "Really? What's the catch?" But the functionality that we get out of it, for the price we pay, is great value."
