We performed a comparison between JumpMind SymmetricDS, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), and TIBCO BusinessWorks based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about NetApp, Fivetran, Dell Technologies and others in Data Replication."It is fully featured. It has allowed me to do everything I wanted to do."
"ODI is a very accessible tool, especially since the mapping functionality has been added."
"It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load."
"All our systems can be widely integrated by ODI, such as transactional systems, our data warehouses, and B2B integration."
"ODI's best features are customization, integration with other versioning tools, and the ability to define new knowledge modules."
"It allows us to use many languages to develop and to integrate practically all the technologies of the Oracle suite as well as those from non-Oracle vendors."
"The Knowledge Module approach provides an easy and reusable way to create our own integration strategies. It's easy to create these Knowledge Modules to connect to new technologies, for instance."
"The most valuable features of ODI are the knowledge modules, such as the Loading Knowledge module and the Check Knowledge module, they are helpful. We can check for the constraints in ODI. That helps in figuring out what are the constraints that are the primary keys created in the tables. We can check them with the Check Knowledge module."
"ODI's most valuable features are it utilizes the database engine and is very lightweight."
"I work in operations, so I value BusinessWorks' performance the most."
"One of the most valuable features is that it's a simple development. It takes a short time to get services to work."
"Good performance and reliability."
"It is a seamless and sophisticated tool."
"One of the most valuable features is data transformation. We have some legacy systems which are in old technology, like SOAP, whereas the new ones are in REST. So we use BusinessWorks to transform data from one format to another, from SOAP to REST."
"Customer support is very efficient."
"The most valuable feature is the integration."
"The most important thing is that it is easy for developers to work with."
"The user interface could improve. We are looking at some cloud-based databases, and I don't think they support that."
"Reverse engineering is complicated and challenging to manage."
"The price needs to be lowered. It's too expensive."
"It lacks a suite of tools suitable for fully processing data and moving it into decision support warehouses."
"We used a third party to do the implementation of ODI."
"If you have something like Cisco on top of it, you will have endless problems."
"ODI could improve by being more user-friendly. Informatica, which is also an ETL tool, similar to ODI, but Informatica is very user-friendly, easy to use, and simple to integrate, compared to ODI. ODI has many features, put them all together, and sometimes we get confused about which ones to use, which ones not to use."
"If there was an add-on tool to hide the performance issues and solve them for me, then I might be interested in that as it would provide me value."
"It needs easier security."
"The cost has room for improvement."
"Its price can be improved. For medium enterprises, it is a very expensive tool. In the market, you won't get many resources for this solution. You won't find many developers in the market very easily. The latest version of TIBCO (6.4 or 6.x) is not very stable. It has got many issues. We have raised this with TIBCO, and they are taking a lot of time to come up with a fix, which is making us move away from this product. Some of the performance-tuning aspects are also missing in version 6. They should provide performance-related fixes, which will be helpful for the customers. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The product has evolved, but it is very pricey. That's one of the challenges. They have provided all the features that are there in other products, but this is a platform upgrade. The platform has completely been changed from 5.x to 6.x, and we can't use the same environment. We can't run both versions on the same server as VM. The development environment is entirely different. In version 5.x, there was a proprietary designer. Now, it has common plug-ins developed on top of Eclipse."
"The Business Studio tool can be improved, which is the tool for designing the processes. Improving the Business Studio tool will make this solution more stable. It has a steep learning curve, and it is pretty tough to learn."
"The container-based image is too large and this makes auto-scaling difficult."
"I'd like to see a new cloud approach in the next release. They need to work on integrations, stability and management issues on their cloud platform."
"Cloud fitness is lacking"
"There are not many plugins available to integrate the databases. We have to write it in Java and integrate it. The developers should have more knowledge. These are the three main aspects that they could improve."
"Scaling with the solution is costly because if we need to scale up, we have to buy more memory. That means more money. Solutions like Camel or Pulsar come with built-in options to scale horizontally, vertically, region-wide or country-wide."
