We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product's initial setup phase is easy with the help of the framework consisting of Microsoft Azure.""This is a good product and I recommend it.""The interface is in continuous development and improves version by version.""The managing and monitoring are the solution's most valuable features. They are something I find quite helpful in my work.""This solution has improved our organization through the provision of efficient resource utilization and capacity planning.""I think it's stable, scalable, and flexible."

More HPE System Management Pros →

"In 90% of the cases, new devices are plug-and-play, so when a new version comes out then SevOne has support for it out of the box.""I like the tool’s scalability and real-time reports. Earlier, we struggled to give real-time reports to clients. I also like the tool’s deployment model where we can deploy it either on-premises or in-house. We don’t have to carry the data all over the globe. Also, I am impressed with the tool's flow reporting and Wi-Fi.""We have benefited mainly from the use of the dashboard interface. It makes the network visually interesting for other people who are not in the network. A lot of people are not network techies who understand streams in the network. Based on location, we have streams coming in and out. They can see visually when there is some problem. They don't need to understand all the network technology behind it to be able to understand if everything is working well or if there is a problem.""The network data collection has been very flexible for us. It's been thorough in areas that were lacking. They have a team that I've worked with to add other pieces to it. So if it's missing something out of the box, they work with me to add it. I was able to collect that data. It's not perfect, but it's pretty thorough.""We find that the reporting is particularly valuable in terms of not only communicating with our peer teams but also with the executives.""We've had great feedback from our customers about SevOne support. They're willing to set up a remote session upon request. You have to go through three tiers of support with most vendors, and they ask a lot of screening questions before they will do a remote session. You need to spend a lot of time before an engineer will host a remote session to look at your problematic system.""It also gives us the closest thing to real-time insight into network performance that we have, with just a 10-second delay. It's very important for us to know the health of the infrastructure very quickly.""It's a great solution for highlighting and discovering useful information regarding our network's elements."

More IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Pros →

"It can send messages to our ticketing system.""The overall functionality of Zabbix is very good. The monitoring of bank applications that Zabbix provides is great. The information is displayed on a dashboard that is easily viewed.""We use it to monitor and manage our servers.""Like other common Linux distributions, some of the most valuable features of this solution are the ease of use and deployment. It's simple and has a lot of packages and a lot of software.""The solution's design has recently changed and it is visually pleasing with more color, for example, there is blue, black, and white.""Zabbix helps to save time.""The level of discovery-based configuration that lets us auto-configure the monitoring for various systems is a valuable feature.""We are able to monitor our virtual infrastructure, virtual machines, windows servers, databases, and the network using a simple network management protocol. We are able to pull almost all the metrics that we want, receive notifications, and have them integrate with telegrams for certain devices that are critical, such as UPSs."

Cons
"The return on investment report is too difficult to understand.""The quality of service and support for this solution needs to be improved.""I think that support integration could be improved.""Our customers would like to see the price lowered.""If the solution could provide better integration to make it easier to manage everything on different servers, that would be helpful. Whatever servers a company has, be it IBM, Dell, etc., if the System Management could be a platform that links all of them together, it would make management across different server types easier.""The product should increase the processing capacity and allow speedy deployment, as both of them are areas with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."

More HPE System Management Cons →

"The method of searching for SIP and the way to create the groups.""NMS has several areas for improvement. It should be more user-friendly inside of NMS for some of the functionality in there. It's been getting better the last version or two, but the there have been bugs in there whenever I've gone to new versions.""I would like to see live maps as an added feature. Also, build modules on AI and EML to provide better data insights that would proactively tell us what we should be looking after.""The user management features need to be improved. It would be nice if we had more granular control, or layers of control, out of the box.""User-friendly, multi-tenancy.""High-frequency polling is data-intensive because you're pulling more. If SevOne could figure out a way to manage the impact of high-frequency polling on the system, that would be very popular.""When I started using it, I tried adding one of the BroadWorks application servers into SevOne... it created thousands and thousands of objects from that one application server and we immediately ran out of license... It would help, when new objects are discovered, if there were a way to categorize those objects and to pick the part of the object you need...""There are some tweaks and enhancements that I've already requested. One is to be able to make changes per device rather than as a global setting. That has to do with naming. It's minor."

More IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Cons →

"Correlation of events would be a wonderful addition.""The product delivers false positives during reporting because of flapping. Other reasonably priced alternatives may have better performance.""Zabbix isn't a great tool for cloud-specific monitoring - its connection to public clouds needs to be improved. Other areas for improvement would be the lack of dashboards and integrations.""There's a small module of APM, however, it is not an enhanced version. People usually ask for a full-fledged APM solution.""When using this solution in enterprise monitoring, you are able to see that there are some issues with equipment that could be causing a problem. Sometimes you want to make a root command that you do not want to be executed automatically. What we have tried to do is open an SSH session directly from the solution's interface but it is not possible.""The documentation could be improved.""The user interface could be a bit better. They could update it a bit.""An area for improvement would be the ease of doing aggregation from the value or different devices."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
