We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool offers high stability.""The most valuable features of Helix ALM are traceability and flexibility.""Helix ALM enables users to build, make efficient and effective decisions, and use least-cost methods for maximum benefit, as fast as possible. They allow you to see and visualize your configuration."

More Helix ALM Pros →

"I love linking/associating the requirements to a test case. That's where I get to know my requirement coverage, which helps a lot at a practical level. So, we use the traceability and visibility features a lot. This helps us to understand if there are any requirements not linked to any test case, thus not getting tested at all. That missing link is always very visible, which helps us to create our requirement traceability matrix and maintain it in a dynamic way. Even with changing requirements, we can keep on changing or updating the tool.""Within Quality Center, you have the dashboard where you can monitor your progress over different entities. You can build your own SQL query segments, and all that data is there in the system, then you can make a dashboard report.""With test execution, you have an option to create custom fields. It is also really user-friendly. With other tools, we only have restricted fields and we cannot customize or add new columns or fields that users can make use of while testing. ALM is very flexible for creating new fields. It is easy for users to understand the application.""From reporting to team management, everything is better now.""ALM Quality Center's best features are the test lab, requirement tab, and report dashboard.""The tools could be useful if we were utilizing them more effectively""Having the links maintained within the tool is a huge boon to reporting requirements, tests, and defects.""Test Execution (Test Lab): This allows us to track our manual tests with date and time and enter actual results and screenshots."

"The most valuable feature is the way the libraries are structured so that they were not folder driven."

More PractiTest Pros →

Cons
"The accountability and the equivalent to using, acting, editing, working with Word, and also importing and exporting from Word needs improvement.""It would be great to see Perforce's strategy is for implementing intelligence into the process via AI or ML. It's not clearly defined, at least not to my knowledge.""Helix ALM should be able to integrate with other systems better. Helix ALM should also have an easier user interface, and the solution needs to have drag-and-drop tools included in it."

More Helix ALM Cons →

"The performance could be faster.""There is room for improvement in the scalability and stability of the solution.""We are looking for more automation capabilities.""I'm looking at more towards something more from a DevOps perspective. For example, how to pull the DevOps ecosystem into the Micro Focus ALM.""It can be quite clunky, and it can easily be configured badly, which I've seen in a couple of places. If it is configured badly, it can be very hard to use. It is not so easy to integrate with other products. I've not used Micro Focus in a proper CI/CD pipeline, and I haven't managed to get that working because that has not been my focus. So, I find it hard. I've often lost the information because it had committed badly. It doesn't commit very well sometimes, but that might have to do with the sites that I was working at and the way they had configured it.""When it came to JIRA and Agile adoption, that was not really easy to do with ALM. I tried, but I was not able to do much on that... There is room for improvement in the way it connects to and handles Agile projects.""Certain features are lousy. Those features can drag the whole server down. There are times that the complex SQL queries are not easy to do within this solution.""We have had a poor experience with customer service and support."

More OpenText ALM / Quality Center Cons →

"It doesn't allow you to connect to multiple different tracking tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I give the solution a nine out of ten for pricing."
  • "I rate the product price a nine on a one to ten scale, where one is low price and ten is high price."
  • More Helix ALM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
  • "If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
  • "For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
  • "The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
  • "HPE has one of the most rigid, inflexible, and super expensive license models."
  • "Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
  • "Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
  • "I feel that the licenses are expensive. "

  • "Pricing is probably in the middle, it's not the cheapest but it's not the most expensive."
