We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft BI was very helpful for me because I had a huge variety of connections. It is very convenient to build reports, even if somebody has no experience using BI tools or data visualizations. Additionally, the performance is very good when generating reports.""The most interesting feature of Microsoft Power BI is that it's very user-friendly.""Users already using Excel can generate new reports and dashboards within minutes.""It has provided customer purchase patterns and great visualization.""I liked that Microsoft Power BI handles a large amount of data. I can handle hundreds of rows from Postgres in a few minutes. I also like how it detects the relationship between the tables without explicitly saying that. It just detects the relationship automatically. That made it easier to work with the data.""It is a powerful tool that helps our data analysis processes.""We have a lot of servers and applications from which we want reports, and it allows us to create reports from an SQL source or some other source.""Provides data feeds for enterprise KPI reporting."

More Microsoft Power BI Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the reporting.""Its robustness is most valuable. It can handle massive amounts of data quickly. If it's properly configured and tuned, it can handle massive amounts of data very quickly to produce results. That to me is the number one feature.""The setup isn't too difficult.""The “Business Model & Mapping” layer in the Administration Tool, because the maintenance and evolution processes are greatly facilitated.""The solution is user-friendly.""The most valuable features of Oracle OBIEE are the ease of logging in, the dashboard, and showing the problems in the data. Additionally, the reports are well integrated and it has good technology.""They were reasonable in terms of price.""The most valuable feature is the openness of the solution. It helps us integrate some of our clients."

More Oracle OBIEE Pros →

"It proved to be a very powerful and useful tool due to its breakdown capabilities, easy reporting features, flexibility in building custom calculations, and the ability to integrate them into reports.""Pyramid has a wide level of uses, as it's a complete ETL process and has a good level of connecting to a lot of data sources.""The features I find most valuable are 'Discover,' 'Formulate,' and 'Model.' I use them regularly to build logic and create reports for my job.""It seems quite performant in analyzing multi-dimensional information sets and presenting them.""It offers a wide range of analytics options including statistics and visualizations, as well as prediction capabilities, allowing users to make forecasts based on the latest data.""The on-premise version has quite good scalability.""I think the most valuable Pyramid Analytics feature is the solution's ability to drill down and dice in the loop. I think it is better than InExcel or Power BI.""The most valuable feature of Pyramid Analytics, outshining even top-tier platforms like Power BI, is its robust support for DAX queries."

More Pyramid Analytics Pros →

Cons
"Actionable insights could be better.""This solution needs integration with SAS and more deep analysis functionality.""One of the more difficult things to do is to export some of the data from Power BI to Excel.""Microsoft Power BI was born native on the cloud, however, it's quite difficult when it has to connect to on-premise data sources.""When it comes to improvement, I would say there could be more tutorials for students in universities who are just learning it. And it wouldn't have to be just for students in universities. It might also be for the people who use it in the real world.""They asked you to pay if you want to synchronize more than eight times, you would have to go to a Power BI enterprise license, which is much more costly.""The setup took a lot of tinkering with InfoSec to allow us to do stuff.""I cannot comment on the stability as we haven't yet used it for a big project."

More Microsoft Power BI Cons →

"From an improvement perspective, the technical team should be able to provide more accurate answers by taking into consideration the context of the issues faced by users.""Oracle OBIEE could improve the visualizations, such as diagrams, charts, and graphical user interface. Other tools on the market have better graphical visualizations this Oracle OBIEE.""One significant improvement is the need for simplification. The set up could be more intuitive. An enterprise setup with HA and DR are pretty complex and to get a robust solution one has to play around with Real Application Cluster data sources and FAN notifications as well as WebLogic clustering and external load balancers. SSO also is not that simple to set up especially if you want all your Oracle systems to use the same SSO solution, i.e., no cheating with direct LDAP connectivity.""Warehouse and business intelligence are two different things, but OBIEE also has some warehouse features in it. I would like to see some of those capabilities improved.""Oracle OBIEE only displays KPIs, but it does not include strategic objectives or display risk in a strategic map.""The performance could improve and in a future release, they could provide more virtualization options.""When a large number of queries are running at the same time, the report fails.""The pricing model could be improved. Right now, it's quite confusing. Many customers have this feeling that it's a super-expensive option."

More Oracle OBIEE Cons →

"There is room for improvement in terms of the user interface, particularly when it comes to modifying connections between filters and visual components in a dashboard.""I find that this is quite a heavy, time-consuming tool for developers.""There is room for improvement in terms of documentation and examples, especially for newcomers like me who are learning both business intelligence and Pyramid.""It would be desirable to have the possibility to generate a data dictionary, detailing the original physical tables, renamed fields, and derived fields.""Even though the solution has a functionality for every step, it's not so well- defined. That needs to be improved.""Pyramid Analytics could improve by speeding up data refresh, especially for large datasets.""The general amount of negative comments that I am hearing from my team makes me very wary.""I think the graphic number of charts and components could be higher, at least comparable to Brain Power BI."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."
