We performed a comparison between IBM Spectrum Accelerate, Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), and ScaleIO [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about StarWind, Nutanix, Red Hat and others in Software Defined Storage (SDS)."The ease of use is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's very user-friendly."
"The most valuable feature is the robustness, which is typical of IBM because their software generally just works."
"The simplicity when it comes to building your own automation has been excellent."
"The most valuable features are the user-friendly dashboard and that we don't need to move resources manually when adding new nodes into running clusters."
"You can be sure that whatever you patch is already compatible with the current firmware and the current version of the Acropolis that you're using."
"The solution is very stable. We haven't had any issues."
"It is a good solution and it is easy to work on their platform."
"It's much easier and faster even when you want to create a server from a template or clone."
"Ability to create multiple VMs."
"You need to send commands through the command-line interface(CLI). This could be improved. The commands are done better in VMware."
"Compared to other products in this category that are competing with Dell EMC, Dell seems to us to always come out on top."
"Automatic rebalancing is the feature saving administration time."
"We are using it as the primary virtualization storage (both for internal corporate users and external customers) for VMware and Hyper-V virtualization platforms."
"They know how to clearly present any important data, including data flow and each drive's IOPS/bandwidth; and allow the user to easily monitor bottlenecks and problems"
"The reporting mechanisms need improvement."
"he interface is not user-friendly so the ease of use could be improved."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure can be improved in terms of the sizing of the solution."
"Nutanix has a complex infrastructure, we have customers that consider VMware instead. Additionally, the performance could be better."
"The licenses for Nutanix are very complicated."
"I would like to see a fuller integration with the public cloud. It would help the user enter the hybrid cloud infrastructure."
"It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals. According to my organization's SLA, if a critical patch is released during that time, then I need to implement the patches within 30 days. If it is a standard patch, then I need to patch it within 60 days. Since that is my SLA, I cannot meet my SLA for security because Nutanix will not release the upgrade within these 30 days. Between the critical patch release and the Nutanix release, my customers say they are vulnerable and I am accepting the risk while the SLA is breached."
"We have a team that does the implementation of the solution for our customers, it is better to have professionals handle the process."
"The price could be lower."
"It's lacking in some features but overcompensating in others."
"It would be nice to set minimum IOPS per volume, besides just the maximum, to be able to satisfy this demand from customers out-of-the-box, not by calculating number of disks, etc."
"There is room for improvement in the area of horizontal scaling."
"Ecosystem around the product: There is no built-in system for viewing history data, such as volume IOPS. We have to provide graphing by Prometheus and Grafana, which would be a good new feature in ScaleIO."
"If they could introduce a write cache feature, the product would be perfect overall."
