We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We use the product for storage and as a VPN.""Feature-wise, it provides many features. ECS, VM, SP, bucket object storage, and databases are the most valuable.""We use the solution to run VMs.""The cost of hosting the solution is very reasonable. It's quite inexpensive.""The installation is easy.""Alibaba support is responsive. When we create tickets in the Alibaba portal, they usually respond online or call me in five minutes.""It's easy to use, cheaper than other solutions, and more secure.""ECS is the most valuable feature of the solution."

"There is no downtime. The solution is reliable.""The most valuable features of Amazon AWS are the high level of capabilities, cloud-native environment, developer-friendly, intuitive interface, and automation. The solution overall is easy to learn from the resources available.""It is enough for us in terms of features. We don't have too many transactions, and it is sufficient for our current needs.""The initial setup is straightforward.""Amazon AWS is user-friendly and intuitive.""It streamlines tasks like table creation and data loading into Redshift, making the process more efficient and manageable.""I like that is very easy to use and that it's flexible.""Serverless computing: This can be more cost-efficient just regarding computing resources than renting or purchasing a fixed quantity of servers, which involves periods of underutilization or nonuse."

More Amazon AWS Pros →

"Its simplicity makes it quite handy for my needs in app development.""If there's data added to the solution, there's a good record of it so it's easy to track everything.""The most valuable feature of Google Firebase authentication and deployment.""The solution is stable.""Google Analytics for Firebase is the best feature of the solution.""Allows us to create functions without any infrastructure apart from the Google App Engine.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most valuable features of Google Firebase have been Analytics, Remote Config, and Crashlytics. Additionally, a lot of companies have used push notifications which is important. There is little maintenance required."

Cons
"Alibaba Cloud needs to increase availability in Thailand.""The solution name is not favorable in some markets and could cause us some problems gaining customers.""The majority of the tools and processes, in general, have a lot of room for improvement.""The user experience must be improved.""Users use websites as a tutorial. However, the Alibaba Cloud website has the content, and the scripts are copied from Amazon Web Services. We had received customer feedback where the customer asked us to get formulate original content instead of copying from Amazon Web Services. It’s very odd and awkward.""A big area for improvement in Alibaba Cloud is its support. Another area for improvement in Alibaba Cloud is SDK-based service because sometimes, the SDKs don't work correctly. Support for API-based services also needs improvement in Alibaba Cloud because, at the moment, it's not that stable.""The solution needs to improve its graphical user interface.""It is not robust."

More Alibaba Cloud Cons →

"One thing that Azure offers that I think is good is Migrate appliance. So, Azure has a migrate appliance that allows you to run against workloads to determine the cost, preparedness, and scalability. I haven't found a similar feature in AWS. That kind of service would be great on AWS too if you could point it to the data center.""I'd like to see AWS implement consolidated billing for businesses operating under one group. We want to consolidate the functionalities but keep the billing separate. That is a challenge we've faced, and I feel it's something they can improve on. For example, maybe you have three businesses that are operating under one group, and you want each entity to have a separate bill for the respective workload that they're using.""Setup is somewhat complex.""They currently have fewer regions in Asia, especially in India, China, and other places. They can maybe put more data centers in this region.""As a result of the competency, I believe that most people are now leaning toward Azure rather than AWS.""The price could be better.""The solution could always be further improved on the commercial side of things. Amazon Web Services are not cheap. It would be ideal if it was less expensive for the customer.""While AWS often is at the top of my list to recommend to people, I always have to tell them, "Hey, you got to be careful because if they don't like you, they can shut you down in a heartbeat. And they can kill an entire company by doing that.""

More Amazon AWS Cons →

"The solution's pricing could be better.""Integrations and extensions offered by the product are quite limited presently.""There was no way of knowing how the rise in traffic would impact the price.""Their technical support needs to be enhanced with more support for customers.""Google Cloud Functions (which is still a BETA version) needs to have more control over the uploaded functions. That is, it needs more options for controlling the functions itself.""Firebase uses JSON, and the storage format is very different to that of SQL. This does not allow for easy migrations.""I would like to have a facility for testing possible scenarios by writing dummy data and then doing different queries.""The product must support more complex queries."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I don't know the exact cost. It is cheaper than AWS."
  • "I'm not sure about the exact pricing, but let's just say if it cost a dollar for Amazon AWS, it was closer to 70 to 80 cents for Alibaba Cloud."

  • "The cost is better than similar solutions."
  • "Pricing for Alibaba Cloud is a little bit cheaper. It has reasonable pricing."
  • "The price of Alibaba Cloud is good. If I was to use Microsoft Azure I would have to pay 30 percent more."
  • "The solution's pricing is the same as AWS'."
  • "I noticed on the pricing that it's quite expensive. It is the price you pay for making a practical choice for enterprise-level companies since it has so many features and it fits an enterprise-level company just like our company right now."

  • "Be careful with your consumption, especially when you are testing things. Costs can creep up on you relatively fast, without even noticing."
  • "AWS is scalable depending on your needs so pricing is dependant on what you use."
  • "It is decently priced. The competition is also bringing its own cloud offerings, such as from Oracle."
  • "When we shifted the load to AWS we paid a high cost as the mail stores were hosted on EBS. The storage cost drastically reduced after moving to S3."
  • "If you can plan capacity for one or three years, you can use the upfront payment option which allows you to save up to 50%."
  • "One of the best thing in Amazon AWS is you are billed for the service you use."
  • "We are reducing costs year-over-year."
  • "Much faster than other solutions at a super low cost."
  • More Amazon AWS Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They have a free tier that will cover most projects. For more intensive use, you pay as you use it, but the price is very cheap."
  • "It is not easy to calculate the cost per copy, use or if the load rose dramatically we did not know how that would impact the final price."
  • "The monthly cost is based on writing data and queries to the database."
  • "The pricing component is a bit confusing when it comes to what exactly you'll pay for, but I wouldn't say it's expensive."
  • "The moment you go into volumes, then you work on a pay-per-volume basis."
  • "The price of Google Firebase is very good."
  • "We are using the free version of Google Firebase."
  • "Pricing for Google Firebase is not so expensive, and if you're a start-up with a small amount of data, it will be quite cheap, and there's even a free tier that you can use. If you're doing a pilot with a reasonable amount of data, for example, just a few gigabytes, it's still on the free tier. If you increase the amount of data, Google Firebase pricing is still reasonable."

Amazon Web Services, Rackspace OpenStack, Microsoft Windows Azure and Google are the major cloud hosting and storage service providers. Athough Amazon is top of them and is oldest in cloud market, Rackspace, Microsoft and Google are giving tough competition to each other and to Amazon also for alluring IT customers. This article give brief history of these cloud hosting service providers and compares the cloud services provided by them. -- Amazon Web Services -- It's hard to find someone who doesn't agree that Amazon Web Services is the market leader in IaaS cloud computing. The company has one of the widest breadths of cloud services - including compute, storage, networking, databases, load balancers, applications and application development platforms all delivered as a cloud service. Amazon has dropped its prices 21 times since it debuted its cloud six years ago and fairly consistently fills whatever gaps it has in the size of virtual machine instances on its platform - the company recently rolled out new high-memory instances, for example. There are some cautions for Amazon though. Namely, its cloud has experienced three major outages in two years. One analyst, Jillian Mirandi of Technology Business Researcher, has suggested that continued outages could eventually start hindering businesses' willingness to invest in Amazon infrastructure. That sentiment gets to a larger point about AWS though - the service seems to be popular in the startup community, providing the IT… Read more →
