We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You don't have to specify your clone, availability clone, or your locations. Everything's over there. They have a receipt for the instance where we have to select the exact location of what we are clicking. The S3 storage capacity is high, and the price is reasonable.""My company uses Amazon S3 by default for every single project. I like that you can use it for storing different file formats. Amazon S3 is also the easiest to use compared to other solutions.""Enables content sharing by multiple users.""The solution's peak-up time is good.""The most valuable feature of Amazon S3 is storage, which provides a personal capacity.""The solution auto-scales so it is easily scalable.""The most valuable features of the Amazon S3 are its ease of use and integration""I've also used Azure's tool, and S3 is far more stable I haven't seen the same issues on AWS that I'm having on Azure. Amazon CloudFront is way faster. The websites are loading way faster than when you do it on Azure CDN."

"We save money with the product.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The main advantage of Glacier is its low cost. It is incredibly cheaper than other storage options, especially for objects you don't access frequently. Glacier would add value if you have a staging area for objects you only need to access occasionally. Since we have data in terabytes between S3 buckets, we can significantly reduce our storage and cost footprint by using Glacier.""Amazon S3 Glacier is a highly scalable and available solution.""It is a very comprehensive tool.""The tool is simple to use and not very expensive.""The solution’s storage management is good and dynamic. The product is highly stable. The solution is highly scalable. The customer service and support is good. The initial setup is straightforward. I recommend the solution.""AWS does support the ability for user controlled movement of data between regions for business continuance (BC), high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR)."

"Implementing Microsoft Azure has meant that we are using the same solution as our customers who use Azure Public Cloud. This allows us to integrate our application, as well as provide the solution to them.""It is very easy to use SSTP and some traditional code to move the data into a database because we can easily use the permissions and we don't have any integration or conversion issues.""The best part is the accessibility to all the files.""The most significant aspect of Microsoft Azure File Storage is its life cycle functionality, which enables us to transfer files to various storage options, such as hot storage, full storage, and archive. This feature is crucial since we can apply a life cycle method to files that have not been in use for an extended period, and then move them to a cheaper cold storage option to save costs. Since the newest files are stored in the hot storage, it met our specific requirements. Consequently, older files can be transferred to archive and cold storage.""The initial setup is fairly easy.""The most valuable aspect of Azure File Storage is that all the features are available in one place.""What I like about Microsoft Azure File Storage is its convenience for customers, cost-effectiveness, and high availability.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Azure File Storage is the cloud file storage capability."

Cons
"The solution requires you to buy and use Amazon services.""I would like to see an easier setup that doesn't require as much training.""The stability of the solution has room for improvement.""An encryption mechanism and storage optimization could be added.""The read drive speed is not as fast as it should be.""Amazon S3 could improve by providing some type of storage notification.""The free web and DB hosting could be improved. It could be faster when you download huge files from the S3 bucket to your local system. If the S3 bucket availability and performance could be improved, we would consider hosting our database over there.""I would like there to be more support without needing to use Transfer Family."

More Amazon S3 Cons →

"The pricing is a bit expensive. There is room for improvement in costs.""The solution's pricing is too expensive and could be improved.""The solution's dashboard is a bit complicated and could be improved.""The learning curve is very high.""They should increase the data limit for the free version or reduce the price.""I would like to see improved storage capacity and enhanced security features for better protection.""Their pricing structure is always a big topic. It's so difficult to understand.""The response times could be faster. When you are with Amazon and use Glacier, you expect a response time between four to seven hours to retrieve the data."

More Amazon S3 Glacier Cons →

"Sometimes it takes very long to refresh the information.""I have used the file storage explorer in multiple systems, and it seems a bit cumbersome and not very efficient, particularly with authentication. It can be tricky to set it up.""There is room for improvement in helping customers understand and integrate Azure File Storage into their operations.""One thing that Azure File Storage could help us with is some kind of impact assessment. When we talk to some of our larger customers who have between 500 and 1,000 applications, we normally do an assessment of all these applications and then tell them which ones are ready to be lifted and shifted, and which ones need to re-architected. It would really help if Azure File Storage could come up with a better way to give estimations of the total investment required, including all costs incurred during the migration.""The provider needs to collect more information about the products.""Lacks integration with other platforms.""It would be helpful if we could remove data that we don't frequently access to reduce the cost of the storage.""Microsoft Azure File Storage needs more integrations. In the future, I also want to see GRC added to the portal. If you enroll or sign up for Azure services, your country may not have GRC available in the portal, so you may have to choose a strange country, for example, Kenya, to activate credit."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With S3 Standard, there is not a charge for deletion of objects."
  • "This solution has reasonable pricing and a low cost."
  • "The licensing is pay as you go, and I'm happy with the pricing."
  • "The cost of storage is cheap. However, the cost to have a better interface can get expensive. We are using Athena for this purpose and if we did some heavy queries the cost will start adding up. When the Athena query is running, it will scan the bucket and they charge for how many GBs we are going to scan. The function of scanning has a lot of costs attached to it, this is a negative point."
  • "The price of the Amazon S3 is low. The license model is based on what you use."
  • "The price of Amazon S3 depends on various variables. However, the price overall is fair."
  • "The price of Amazon S3 could be less expensive."
  • "The license of Amazon S3 is based on volume, capacity, and time. The overall price of the solution could improve. The support has to be added if you want it at an additional cost."

  • "For one terabyte of data, we are spending about 150 Euro every month."
  • "One of the major benefits for AWS is that they have a very large customer representative base where clients can be picked from, they offer large discounts and credit. We were not able to receive the same kind of offers from Microsoft Azure File Storage. We tried to approach Azure while hiring for our disaster recovery discussion, but we didn't receive anything from Azure."

The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.

Amazon Glacier is a secure, durable, and extremely low-cost cloud storage service for data archiving and long-term backup. Customers can reliably store large or small amounts of data for as little as $0.007 per gigabyte per month, a significant savings compared to on-premises solutions. To keep costs low, Amazon Glacier is optimized for infrequently accessed data where a retrieval time of several hours is suitable.
