We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"All our systems can be widely integrated by ODI, such as transactional systems, our data warehouses, and B2B integration.""Oracle provides great documentation.""Easy to understand, very developer-friendly, and has a big forum community and lots of documentation for support.""The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability.""The most valuable feature that we use is the Knowledge Modules.""ODI's best features are customization, integration with other versioning tools, and the ability to define new knowledge modules.""In our DW/BI solution, ODI is the main tool to integrate the data in a daily batch way.""ODI significantly improves data integration and management by allowing customization of data types from various sources like SQL Server databases."

"I work in operations, so I value BusinessWorks' performance the most.""The most valuable features are the stability and the time to market.""The most valuable part of the solution is the ease-of-use and ease of deployment.""Areas for improvement would be the cloud fitness of the product and the ease of migrating to newer versions.""It is user friendly, it's not complex.""XML to JSON transformations, out-of-the-box, helps to build REST services.""We use the solution to develop applications.""BusinessWorks reduces development time, helping developers to focus on business logic."

More TIBCO BusinessWorks Pros →

"It is easier to use than other technical open-source technologies.""The most valuable features are easy integration, quick tab to develop, quick tab to market, and interactive integration platform.""Workato is low code, intuitive, and easy to use.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""It's easy to understand, makes flows and is efficient.""Their automation and workflows are very strong, and you can build the workflows very easily and quickly.""It is very easy to use. It takes complex workloads away, and it provides very smooth integration. It has got a lot of out-of-the-box connectors. It has got a lot of out-of-the-box APIs, which makes it really easy to integrate with applications for different use cases, whether it is in finance, HR, or customer operations. It is by far our favorite integration product."

Cons
"Reverse engineering is complicated and challenging to manage.""The tool should improve its pricing. It prevents the application of Oracle ODI on small and medium projects in countries like Croatia, Germany, or the US. While there are no technological obstacles to using it, the high price makes it unfeasible for projects with smaller budgets.""The stability of the software could be improved. Sometimes, the software just crashes. ""It lacks a suite of tools suitable for fully processing data and moving it into decision support warehouses.""It needs easier security.""It has been very good. Just recently, I've faced an issue, but I solved it somehow. While integrating with a file, I faced an issue where I wanted output files, and I had used the text field limited quotations, but at the end of the file, there was a line breakage for the last column. So, we just removed the text field because it was not working correctly for us.""Technical Support could be better.""The initial setup is a bit complex compared to other tools."

More Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Cons →

"There are multiple plugins which increase the number of product installations.""This solution's cloud could be improved. I don't know whether it was because we didn't have the internal expertise or if it was the product itself, but since they came later—I think only two or three years into the cloud—after many other iPaaS that had been in the cloud for longer, I feel that maybe they haven't matured in terms of the cloud.""The initial setup is not easy.""The communication protocols could be improved.""The container-based image is too large and this makes auto-scaling difficult.""There are not many plugins available to integrate the databases. We have to write it in Java and integrate it. The developers should have more knowledge. These are the three main aspects that they could improve.""Improve Business Studio's stability to further minimize development time.""The cost of this product is too expensive for smaller companies or those with a small number of integrations."

More TIBCO BusinessWorks Cons →

"From the deployment point of view, our customers encounter platform downtime where it does not serve the actual request on the systems.""It is tedious to make a tailor-fit function.""The management dashboard in the solution is an area with shortcomings that needs improvement.""Workato's Extract, transform, and load (ETL) and extract, load, and transform (ELT) are not very strong and could be improved for very complex transformations.""I would like to see the dashboarding and reporting processes improved.""A limitation is that their cloud presence is only in North America and Europe.""The only minor drawback would be if there was a UI at the front of it, for apps and for a portal as well, it would make it really easy. It would be really useful if there were more apps capabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
  • "We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
  • "The solution is expensive because of the model they use. The cost is for the license and for support."
  • "ODI comes included when buying the cloud version of the Oracle database license."
  • "There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
  • "Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
  • "I have yet to determine the exact figure for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing, but it has lower pricing than Informatica."
  • "The Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing isn't expensive, but it's not cheap, so it's in the middle. I'd rate the pricing as three out of five."
  • More Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "My understanding is that the licensing is very costly."
  • "It is a bit expensive for medium-sized companies. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The existing licensing will not work because the product platform itself is different."
  • "Its price policy has changed quite a lot in the last two years. It was extremely expensive previously. Nowadays, you can buy a license for BusinessWorks for €2000. Looking at what you get in return in terms of support, TIBCO community, and stability, it is fairly reasonable. It is not too expensive."
  • "I think BusinessWorks is more expensive compared to other products. We have the ELA, so at least we have some sort of bargain or discount with that. But for a start-up, it's very expensive compared to other ESBs."
  • "Licensing scheme is too rigid"
  • "I don't have the prices of the products, but I know that TIBCO is not a cheap solution. I think that this solution is more suitable for large companies because I don't think that small- or medium-sized companies would have the money for this solution. WSO2 has the community version for free, so many of the smaller companies can use it. I'm not sure what the prices are for support, though, so I suppose the support for WSO2 is not cheap either."
  • "The solution is too expensive. It's one of the most expensive solutions out there, particularly because there are so many open-source competitors on the market. I don't know the exact numbers, however."
  • "I give the cost of the solution a four out of ten."
  • More TIBCO BusinessWorks Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "On a scale of one to ten, the pricing is around a six. We have a consumption model and the pricing is higher. If you are using any kind of ML-based approach, machine learning, or some advanced analytics, you may have to pay more."
  • "Speaking about price, I would say that it's market-related. Also, there are costs in addition to the standard license fees since different add-ons depend on what you require."
  • "Workato is an expensive solution."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) solution.

Brian D., Business Process and Strategy Specialist Advisor at NTTData, says, “The Knowledge Module (KM) is my favorite feature of ODI. This is where I learned how to use variables to make jobs dynamic. I took that knowledge and created a KM that would go into iTunes and pull the sales of eBooks. Making something that is reusable, like a KM, is important to not only reduce build time but also maintenance in the future.”

Ashok S., Applications Support Manager at a marketing services firm, mentions, "The most valuable features of ODI are the ease of development, you can have a template, and you can onboard transfer very quickly. There's a lot of knowledge modules available that we can use. If you want to connect, for example, a Sibyl, SQL, Oracle, or different products, we don't have to develop them from scratch. They are available, but if it's not, we can go into the marketplace and see if there's a connector there. Having the connector available reduces the amount of hard work needed. We only have to put the inputs and outputs. In some of the products, we use there is already integration available for ODI, which is helpful."

TIBCO BusinessWorks allows to connect applications, whether on-premises or in the cloud, providing proven reliability and scalability, out-of-the-box. With a drag-and-drop graphical development environment, TIBCO BusinessWorks eliminates the pain and cost of point-to-point application integration, connecting and unifying business processes across applications, data sources, and APIs, with access to real-time data across all your platforms.

Named a Leader in iPaaS for Dynamic Integrations by Forrester, Workato is a modern automation and integration platform. With its enterprise-grade capabilities, you can seamlessly integrate and orchestrate workflow automation across cloud and on-premise applications, files and databases without coding.

The Workato team comes from a deep background in building integration products and will continue to expand and change the automation and integration space.
