DataCore SANsymphony SDS Review

Has easy cluster maintenance and auto-tiering moves data to fast disk if needed

What is our primary use case?

SAN volumes for all system types. You can serve Linux and Windows systems alike, just add the multipath software.

How has it helped my organization?

  • Multi-site redundancy, who wouldn't want that?
  • Cluster maintenance is super easy: just add a node to the second siteĀ and the software takes care of the data.

What is most valuable?

Auto-tiering moves data to fast disk if needed. Works great. I don't have to think about the second set of data.

What needs improvement?

Maybe adding a Linux data manager, and moving away from Windows. It has become more reliable when using 2012/2016.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Using the newer MS server version has made the system more stable.

How is customer service and technical support?

Very helpful support!

How was the initial setup?

Straightforward. It supports fibre channel.

What about the implementation team?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Check what's out there.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

What other advice do I have?

Once you use it, you won't want something else. No vendor lock-in.
