What is our primary use case?
Data360 Govern is all about customer data connecting business objectives and governance needs. The main functionalities: business glossaries, data catalog, lineage/impact analysis, profiling and compliances like GDPR/LGPD; as result It is about pushing, cross-selling, upselling, and providing the best data services. The main use case is to combine different kinds of data, print the data, and make it compliant with different standards and unified and customer information. In the end, the customers get a 360 view of the data.
In general, we have hybrid deployments, where some parts are on-premises, and some parts are on the cloud. In the near future, we are planning to have everything on the cloud.
How has it helped my organization?
Enable the collaboration between data leaders; creating a unified and trusted data to achieve compliance, operate efficiently, mitigate risk and full data governance.
What is most valuable?
It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data, manage: business glossaries, data catalog, lineage/impact analysis, profiling and compliances. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources; On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products.
Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. connecting data leaders to deliver business ready data, also It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix.
What needs improvement?
We would like this solution to be available in other languages like Portuguese and Spanish. More functions for business users on workflows.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been working with this solution for over two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We don't have any problems with its stability because the solution is running on a master. If we have any problem with the master, the base layer will take control.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Its scalability is great. When we start to use this solution in production, it is not so big, but day by day, the data keeps on growing. As we're bringing in more data, we have to expand the product further. We have been adding more resources to the server, and it is responding. There are some solutions that don't have any change in the performance when we add more resources, but with Data360 Govern, as soon as we put more resources, its response increases.
We have over 10 people in technical science for developing and analyzing the data. We have almost 50 people using this solution as a consumer to see the results and find and support new reasons and demands. So, we have data scientists, CDLs, business users, data stewards, and compliance people as the users of this solution.
How are customer service and technical support?
Their technical support is amazing. There are no issues in getting correct support from them. It is very easy to get support, and they are very fast.
There is a portal that we can use to submit a case. For critical issues, we can also send an email and set up a meeting to have an engineer look at and work directly on the case. It is also possible to escalate the case if we have a huge problem with the production or need them online for a faster resolution, but so far, we didn't have to do that.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were using an Informatica solution and some in-house solutions and scripts. We switched from Informatica because of the cost, user-friendliness, and smart abilities of Data360. It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities to manage the data.
Informatica has been around for a longer time than Infogix, so the professionals know more about Informatica than Infogix. Informatica solution is available in our local language, which Infogix doesn't provide.
How was the initial setup?
It was very easy and fast. It has typical wizards. The big task is to understand what are the data needs and challenges and how to combine the tech intel data to align with the business needs, which takes more time.
The deployment is very fast. It takes less than an hour because it generates facts using which we can move from one environment to another. However, putting it from development to production takes time because we need to analyze the data from the discovery, transform the data, construct some rules, and see if the solution is correct and meets the business needs. After that, we put it into production. It takes a month.
Our implementation strategy was based on the Agile Methodology, sprints, and squads. Each squad had five professionals.
What about the implementation team?
We handle the implementation. Generally, it requires one person, but depending on the project, you might need more resources.
In terms of maintenance, there are a few actions we need to take. Our upgrades are more on a quarterly basis, but they are also dependent on the new updates or features. They can also happen twice in a year or something like that. We will have a new upgrade in February. We are doing these upgrades by ourselves. If we have any problems, we have online support.
What was our ROI?
We have seen ROI. No one invests without a return on investment.
To get ROI, you need to put this solution to work to solve a business problem, not to solve a technical problem. It must be aligned to solve business problems. Start small and grow. This is really important.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license.
Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage.
What other advice do I have?
To get a good ROI, you need to put this solution to work to solve a business problem, not to solve a technical problem. You must also define the correct roadmap. This is a big solution, but you can start with the basics functions and then start growing the functionality to provide quick wins for the business. It is also really important to have a very good strategy for implementation. An implementation strategy is very important to get a project done successfully. To reduce the time to go live in production and implement many things in parallel, you must align the implementation process with your methodology.
It is a very modern solution with a new approach. To use this solution, we had to prepare our company because many people in the company preferred the classical approach. We had to push this new approach and make sure that everybody is on the same page. To use this, we needed new compliances, such as GDPR. In Brazil, we have NGDP, which is similar to GDPR. We also had to think about business needs. It required collaboration with the compliance group to use this data correctly for the business.
I would rate Infogix Data360 Govern a ten out of ten. It is a great solution.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
