SAS Enterprise Guide Review

Great Tool for Data Management and Analytics Tasks.

What is most valuable?

SAS/EG is a very good tool for data management and analytics tasks. You can use the workflow to create jobs in a guided mode or you can write code in SAS/BASE. The workflow possibility is a very good option, because you don't need to know programming to create analytics projects.

How has it helped my organization?

This tool has improved the work in customer intelligence or business intelligence departments.

What needs improvement?

I found difficulties when trying to connect to Big Data environments, such as Apache Spark.

For how long have I used the solution?

For 10 years using SAS/EG and SAS/BASE.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No.

How is customer service and technical support?

An eight out of 10.

Which solutions did we use previously?

I have also used R. Both are good tools.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complex. It took only two days.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think the price is high. Now you have alternatives, open source to do analytics projects, and the licensing of SAS/EG is expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have also used R. Both are good tools.

What other advice do I have?

If you have enough budget, it is a very good tool. It's important to take into account that if you need to work with advanced models like neural networks or random forest that models are not supported by SAS/EG, you will need another SAS tool, such as SAS Enterprise Miner.
