SolarWinds Pingdom Review

Good network monitoring and alerting to potential problems

What is our primary use case?

This solution makes up part of our security and network monitoring solution.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are for network monitoring. It gives updates on what is not available, what the bandwidth utilization is and whether it has been exceeded, and so on. There are alerting mechanisms in place to let us know, for example, if a device is not responding to a ping test and is probably not going to work.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see better integration with other products. Right now, Microsoft is pitching integration as they're trying to integrate Desktop Analytics with SCCM, and SCCM with Intune, include support for mobile management, etc. It will all be integrated in-house with multiple products, and I would expect SolarWinds to do something similar for better value add.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been familiar with SolarWinds for the past ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is pretty good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is very good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have had some exposure to other products that are similar, although I cannot remember the specifics.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a very good product and one that I recommend.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
