Veritas Backup Exec Review

Simple, easy to deploy, and has good presentation and UI

What is our primary use case?

We're using the on-premise version.

What is most valuable?

Veritas is simple and easy to deploy. In terms of the presentation and UI, they do their job well.

What needs improvement?

I cannot tell right now. I have probably eight years of influence and experience with this product, so it's difficult for me to be accurate here.

Maybe they could improve reporting capabilities and predictions.

I would also advise them to shift more towards open source. They should think about changing their server from Windows to open source. It's not an easy job, but I feel that their next step should involve shifting to that direction.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Their stability is fine. We have had no problem.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's not so scalable. If you need flexibility and scalability, you probably need different products. You need to go with a more advanced product, NetBackup for example.

If you have to go with scale, you should choose an enterprise product. This product, from my point of view, is more of a simple product.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is very good. We have not had many issues, but it's okay.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was definitely straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's a good price for the product.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this product.

I would rate this solution as eight out of ten.
