As website content and number of visits grow, one does recognize scalability issues for websites on shared hosting. I do need to note, howeve,r that Wordpress can be scaled indefinitely, and what I have noted is more a host issue than a Wordpress issue.

The Wordpress community and the plug-in/theme developers, typically provide outstanding support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used Joomla (Up to 1.7). I have found Wordpress to be a lot faster and a lot easier both to setup and use.

There was no cost to using Wordpress for us.

Installation and usage manuals on the Wordpress.org are really helpful for beginners. In addition, the Wordpress community is outstanding for advice and troubleshooting, so take your time to browse through the various forums.
