What is most valuable?

Document Management, Content Model Manager, MS Office integration, Collaboration & Sharing, Workflow, Digital Asset Management, support for standards such as Content Management Interoperability Interface (CMIS).

How has it helped my organization?

We use the Alfresco product to keep track of project information (documentation), being it email conversation or office documents. Content can be easily found via Free Text Search or metadata search. I have also been involved in a lot of... more»

What needs improvement?

Alfresco is quite well rounded at this point but if I should pick something it would be to improve the Model Manager further so it supports the full range of content model definition language. Such as support for associations and mandatory... more»

What do you think of DocStar ECM?

Valuable Features Ease of use Flexibility to span across multiple departments • Improvements to My Organization A/P Automation H/R On boarding Client/Vendor File Management Contract Management • Room for Improvement Not designed well for high-volume batch capture Does not display the images during the scanning process, so QC is always a post process • Use of Solution Over 13 years. • Deployment Issues Premise Eclipse requires you to have the 2012 platform. • Stability Issues We've experienced a couple of outages on Eclipse sites. • Scalability Issues The entry point if you start from scratch is cost effective. If you have to import legacy data this becomes a lot more involved and costly. Based on the license model can get expensive when compared to other...

We're able to mix the platform as a service offering, combining Document Cloud with the BPM, and use that as a seamless application for a new process-flow engine.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see faster turnaround for provisioning new services. When you get a new cloud account, that takes a long time and then provisioning services also takes a long time. While Oracle seems to have more stability than some of the... more»

What is most valuable?

First, the device-agnostic cloud storage and collaboration. When we first deployed Box, we managed all of our own storage. Using Box for cloud storage allows us to focus on the service and maintaining infrastructure. Box has a number of nice... more»

How has it helped my organization?

Faculty, staff and students can collaborate with their peers on and off campus. Members of the University community have found many creative ways to use the platform. In some cases, they were able to really streamline processes and in others... more»

What needs improvement?

Support for larger files. Improvements in speed - Box's high level of security impacts performance, especially when compared with other similar services. While it's understandable, it's annoying.
